The invention herein relates to a buckle assembly with one or more insertable and/or attachable pieces that are suitable for the sharpening of various tools, such as knives. The buckle assembly may have a first sharpening insert that is composed primarily of tungsten carbide. The first sharpening insert may be affixed to the top of the buckle assembly. Alternatively, the first sharpening insert may be removably attached to the buckle assembly through various methods. The sharpening insert may be used to sharpen the edge of a tool. The buckle assembly is also composed of a front face that may have a second fine sharpening face. The fine sharpening face may be composed of a diamond grit plate.
