Drill Chuck Assembly
20180326506 · 2018-11-15 ·

A drill chuck assembly. The drill chuck assembly includes a rapid change mechanism configured to retain a drill bit shank inserted therein. The drill chuck assembly includes a body having a bore with a trilobe cross-section that is configured to receive a triangular and hexagonally shaped drill bit shank, interchangeably. The bore includes a slot positioned in each lobe that slidably contains a detent ball therein. A collar is affixed annularly around the body and defines a channel extending around the body. A sleeve is slidably mounted around the body. The sleeve includes a tapered end that is slidably disposed within the channel and has circular apertures that are in communication with the slots of the bore for reception of the detent balls. The sleeve is spring biased towards the collar, which forces the detent balls against an angular wall within the channel. The angular wall in turn forces the detent balls laterally towards a center of the bore, thereby exerting a force on a drill bit shank inserted into the bore and preventing the withdrawal of the shank from the bore. When the bias force of the sleeve is counteracted by sliding the sleeve about its longitudinal axis, the detent balls move outwardly along the angular wall, thereby relieving the force exerted onto the shank by the wall and allowing the shank to be withdrawn.

Fastener tool assemblies

A bit holder assembly for a rotary hand or powered tool, includes a body having a hex shank at its rearward end and a retraction collar slidably disposed on the body. The body has a coaxial hex socket formed therein to allow a tool bit to be inserted thereinto. A coil spring biases the retraction collar forwardly and biases a retaining clip toward the bottom of an angular slot formed in the body. The bit is removed by sliding the retraction collar rearwardly, to compress the coil spring and allow the retaining clip to retract back up the slot. A ring magnet is disposed at the forward end of the retraction collar to magnetize a fastener to retain the fastener to the bit.

Clamping device with removable handles

A clamping device has a clamp and a removable handle. A pair of clamping arms is on the clamp. A pivoting device includes a clamp bushing linked with each of the clamping arms of the pair of clamping arms to move the pair of arms between an opened and closed position. The removable handle couples with the clamp bushing. The removable handle includes a release mechanism to actuate the pivot mechanism to move the clamping arms between the open and clamped positions.

An apparatus is disclosed for holding the shaft of an object, wherein the shaft rotates in a first working direction. The apparatus includes a bore, a first ball slot in communication with the bore, a first ball disposed within the first ball slot, and a spring. The bore has a longitudinal axis, and the shaft is inserted into the bore in an insertion direction. The first ball slot is in communication with the bore and includes a ramp. The first ball slot has a first axis that is angularly offset from the longitudinal axis at an acute angle between the insertion direction and the first working direction. Upon insertion of the shaft into the bore, the shaft contacts the ball and causes it to move along the ramp within the ball slot, thereby compressing the spring by a first amount.

Float type clamping mechanism

A float type clamping mechanism is provided, comprising a workpiece pallet having a central post provided on its bottom surface and a chuck. The chuck can be releasably coupled to the central post. The chuck has a base, a top seat, a piston seat with spring members provided between the piston seat and the top seat, a movable socket having movable detents provided around its periphery, and a bottom cover. When the central post of the workpiece pallet is inserted into the movable socket, the movable detents displaced inward to detent the central post so as to allow the movable socket to float upward slightly, and the movable socket is pressed downward through simple mechanism to clamp the central post firmly so that zero clamping effect between the workpiece pallet and the chuck can be achieved.

A hole saw assembly is revealed. The hole saw assembly is a hole saw with a quick change drill rod. The hole saw assembly includes a quick release device and the drill rod, both arranged at the hole saw. The drill rod is inserted through the quick release device and the quick release device is for fastening and releasing a drill head of the drill rod. Thereby the drill rod is fitted over the quick release device and users can fasten and release the drill rod quickly. Users can also quickly mount a shank of the drill rod quickly into the hole saw. The drill rod is fast slid out of the quick release device for replacement of a new drill rod. Then the shank is locked on the hole saw so that the shank and the hole saw can rotate synchronously.
