Component with gripping element
In one embodiment, an ornamental component is provided for use with jewelry (a bracelet or necklace). The ornamental component has a through hole allowing the ornamental component to be strung on an elongated member of the jewelry. The ornamental component includes a self-supporting housing and an insert assembly. The housing has a through hole with first and second openings at first and second sides, respectively, of the housing. The insert assembly is inserted in the through hole of the housing, and the insert assembly is assembled from a first tubular element and a gripping element. The first tubular element has a through hole that forms at least a part of the ornamental component through hole. The gripping element is configured to frictionally grip a part of the jewelry item. The first tubular element is configured to secure the gripping element inside the through hole of the ornamental component.
Method of connecting jewelry components
Two plates, corresponding to the diameter of a length of riveting material being used, act as gauges and are placed separately on the top and bottom of at least one components to be made into a jewelry item. The length of material, such as a wire or tubing, is passed through holes in all the components, and the holes of the plates. This allows the jewelry maker to cut the length of material flush with the exposed surface of the plate on the top of the stack. This automatically measures the optimal length of material needed to span the combined thickness of all the components to be riveted together, while providing the desired length exposed at the top and bottom of the stacked pieces, to fashion a properly formed and secure flattened rivet head on each end of the length of material.
Device for removing earrings
An earring removal device is provided to remove a stud type earring. The removal device includes tips that easily interface with the earring post and backer to facilitate removal. The tips are coupled to an arcuate structure with a spring characteristic. Simple squeezing of the arcuate structure actuates the tips to separate the backer from the post. The spring characteristic is biased to keep the tips spaced apart, or open, in the absence of a squeezing force.
Retroreflective Chain and Manufacturing Method
The present invention relates to jewelry and specifically jewelry with retroreflective inlays. Specifically, the invention relates to a chain link or other jewelry item, with an inlay trough formed in the chain. The inlay trough can be created in a number of ways including casting, CNC milling, photolithography and chemical milling. Once an inlay trough is created, a retroreflective material is embedded in the trough. The retroreflective material which has a bonded top layer of acrylic or polyester is then sealed into the trough with a resin layer that creates a highly reflective, water-resistant, and protective surface. The disclosed invention covers the chain or other jewelry of similar style and the method for producing the jewelry.
Method for making an ornamental article
Method for making an ornamental article, which envisages a step for arranging, in a 3D printer, a finish plate made of metallic material provided with an inner face and an outer face, and an augmenting step for augmenting, in the 3D printer, an ornamental body formed by a plurality of separate connection elements mechanically engaged with each other, wherein the augmenting step is attained by means of successive welding of metal powder layers, so to fix the plurality of connection elements of the ornamental body to the finish plate. The method further comprises a step for cutting the finish plate into a plurality of separate surface elements adjacent to each other and mechanically connected to the plurality of connection elements.
Producing a safety clutch
A method of producing a safety clutch for releasable securing of a post for a body piercing is disclosed. The post is guided through a hole in a plate to be secured (but removable) between a pair of cantilever spring elements bent from the edges of the plate into position on the back side of the plate. A dome shield is also secured to the edge of plate to cover the cantilever spring elements on back side of the clutch, the dome shield including one or more ventilation holes for reducing moisture accumulation within the dome shield. The dome shield blocks an end of the post extending between the cantilever spring elements from contacting the user and possibly puncturing skin. The plate, dome shield and cantilever spring elements can be efficiently manufactured by forming and stamping from a single piece of material.

Mourning and Memorial Jewelry and Methods of Manufacture
Mourning and memorial jewelry items and methods for manufacturing the same are described. The methods utilize metal implant materials from deceased individuals to create items of jewelry for retention and use by survivors. The overall method includes a planning process that discerns the type of metal implants available and identifies the type of jewelry desired. The planning process establishes a preferred method for manufacture, based on the size and shape of the available implant objects, as well as the desired item of jewelry. The jewelry items are either unitary pieces of jewelry or jewelry stones. The preferred method for transforming the implant object into the item of jewelry will involve machining, annealing or forging, and/or melting and casting. The preferred method is implemented and results in either the finished item of jewelry or a metallic stone that may be set into a jewelry setting.
