Apparatus and methods for vehicle structural or semi-structural component assembly enabling tunable deceleration characteristics
A vehicle structural or semi-structural component assembly or crash sensor assembly includes a body, wherein a first portion of the body comprises a polymer composite material and a sensor mount portion of the body is connected to the first portion; and a sensor directly attached to the sensor mount portion. The sensor mount portion comprises a polymer composite material and a flexible reinforcement material over-molded within the polymer composite material. A method for enabling tunable deceleration characteristics in a vehicle structural or semi-structural component assembly includes forming a structural or semi-structural component for a vehicle from a polymer composite material; over-molding a flexible reinforcement material within the polymer composite material at one or more locations along the component; and attaching a sensor directly to at least one of the one or more locations.
Matrial Matrix of Blocks of Dielectric Materials
Materials that exhibit magneto-dielectric effects with high local order in the form of distinct basic units with a defined geometry that provides orientation and spacing that prevents contact between conductive components of a basic unit are disclosed. Use of multiple basic units arranged, for example by embedment, in essentially random orientation relative to one another provides a composite material with magneto-dielectric effects that isotropic and homogeneous. Such basic units are readily manufacturable using conventional techniques.

Magneto-dielectric material with low dielectric losses
Materials that exhibit magneto-dielectric effects with high local order in the form of distinct basic units with a defined geometry that provides orientation and spacing that prevents contact between conductive components of a basic unit are disclosed. Use of multiple basic units arranged, for example by embedment, in essentially random orientation relative to one another provides a composite material with magneto-dielectric effects that isotropic and homogeneous. Device having flattenable cavities and protrusions
In accordance with the present invention, a device and method of buffering a surface while still maintaining the surface's visual appearance is disclosed. This invention relates to protecting a surface from deformation from objects placed on the surface while at the same time maintaining the surface's visual clarity and appearance. This invention may include the use of a sheet of silicone, some of the disclosed embodiments of which are uniquely configured with concave cavities and convex protrusions, and a wetting agent to achieve the stated buffering and visual appearance of the surface.
