Bearing assemblies for selectively coupling to surgical instruments are disclosed. In one embodiment, a bearing assembly can include a housing with a cavity, a first race in the cavity that translates but does not rotate relative to the housing, bearing elements disposed in the first race that move radially in and out of a central passage of the first race, and a second race that is fixed in the cavity. The first race can be biased toward an opening of the cavity, the second race can surround the first race with an inner surface having a tapered diameter configured to contact the bearing elements as the first race moves distally relative to the second race and urge the plurality of bearing elements radially inward to selectively lock the bearing assembly to a surgical instrument disposed within the central passage of the first race.

CONNECTING MECHANISM

A connecting mechanism is provided, including a first member, a second member, a first connecting element, a second connecting element, a resilient element, and a ball-shaped element. The first connecting element is connected to the second member. The first connecting element has an opening. The second connecting element is disposed in the first connecting element. The resilient element is connected between the second member and the second connecting element. When the first member moves to a joining position relative to the second member, a column of the first member extends through the opening, and the ball-shaped element is clamped between the first connecting element, the second connecting element and a recess of the column.

Quick change fastener

A fastener comprises a housing, a socket, a pintle and a locking feature. The housing includes a shaft, a central bore that extends axially at least partially through the housing and a ball lock aperture extending from the bore. The socket extends into the housing adjacent to the first end face, and is configured such that rotation of the first socket rotates the fastener. The pintle is positioned within the bore and includes an actuation end and a rod that extends axially from the actuation end. The rod includes a ball transitioning surface and a ball locking surface. The pintle is moveable axially within the bore between a designated lock position where the ball locking surface of the pintle is aligned in register with each ball lock aperture, and a designated unlocked position where the ball lock surface of the pintle is moved axially away from each ball lock aperture.

Reusable release mechanism

A release mechanism for releasably securing a releasable structure to a stationary structure, where the mechanism employs release balls that can re-secure the releasable structure to the stationary structure. The release mechanism includes a base portion having three rails extending radially outward from a center of the base portion, and a rotatable portion rotatably mounted to the base portion, where the rotatable portion has a cam indentation. The release balls are positioned between the base portion and the rotatable portion so that one of the release balls is ridable on each of the rails and all of the release balls are positioned within the cam indentation. The cam indentation is configured so that as the rotatable portion is rotated relative to the base portion the cam indentation causes and allows the release balls to move along the rails in unison with each other to hold and release the releasable structure.

Fastener and assembly utilizing the same

A locking mechanism includes a lock housing and an activation shaft. The lock housing defines first and second axes, each being different than the other. The lock housing includes an inner mechanism housing wall, a hollow conduit defined by the inner mechanism housing wall, and a channel. The channel is defined by a portion of the inner mechanism housing wall and has first and second portions, where the first portion extends along the first axis and the second portion extends along the second axis. The activation shaft is at least partially surrounded by the hollow conduit and includes a shoulder protruding from the activation shaft towards the channel of the inner mechanism housing wall. In an unlock position, the shoulder is freely manipulatable within the first portion of the channel along the first axis, and in a lock position the shoulder is prevented from moving along the first axis.

Shaft for rotationally coupling a main device to a tubular device

A shaft for rotationally coupling a main device to a tubular device includes a first free end that is configured to be introduced into the tubular device, and a second end configured to be secured to the main device. The shaft also defines at least a first bearing region along an outer circumference that is configured to form a contact in a hollow accommodating region of the tubular device, and further includes at least one torque-transmitting section configured to engage with a torque-transmitting section of the tubular device. A securing device of the shaft includes a locking device that, in a locked state, is configured to prevent the securing device from being dismounted, and that, in an unlocked state, is configured to enable the tubular device to be dismounted. The securing device further includes an interlocking device that is arranged on the first end of the shaft, and that enables locking and unlocking the locking device.

Quick disconnect securement device

A quick disconnect device for detachably holding a long gun or other elongated emergency tool (EET). The quick disconnect device receives and captures the ball of a ball-and-stem structure that is attached to the EET. The quick disconnect device may allow the EET to rotate about the central axis of the stem, but otherwise prevents relative translational and rotational motion between the EET and the quick disconnect device. The quick disconnect device is especially suitable for mounting to clothing, such as a utility belt or a ballistic vest. the quick disconnect device allows the EET to be inserted without requiring the user to directly manipulate the quick connection device, but requires the user to manipulate some sort of mechanism on the quick connect device in order to release the EET.

LOCKING MECHANISM
20210361996 · 2021-11-25 ·

A lock mechanism which can be placed on a shaft, such as a bar or pole, in either a first direction or second direction, is secured to the shaft using two sets of balls which project out of apertures in an inner cylinder to frictionally engage the shaft. The balls are selectively retractable from their projecting position to allow the inner cylinder to slide on and/or be removed from the shaft. Biasing members, such as wavy springs, bias the two sides of the lock mechanism towards one another. In the locked configuration, the balls are forced by inclined surfaces within the two sides to project outwardly from the inner hollow cylinder. The inclined surfaces are aligned with two rows of apertures in the inner hollow cylinder, and they are inclined in opposite directions. Thus, either way the lock mechanism is installed or placed on the shaft, the balls will project out of the apertures in the inner hollow cylinder and will securely engage the shaft.

Releasable roller clutch and adjustable hinge assembly using the same

According to one aspect, a releasable roller clutch includes a shaft and a clutch housing positioned around the shaft. The shaft and clutch housing together defining a space there between with rollers positioned in said space. The rollers permit rotation of the shaft relative to the clutch housing when in an unlocked position in which the rollers are not wedged and prevent rotation of the shaft relative to the clutch housing when in a locked position in which the rollers are wedged. A cage extends into the space defined between the shaft and clutch housing. The cage is moveable relative to the clutch housing between an unlocking position and a locking position. The cage has a contact edge positionable to prevent the rollers from moving from the unlocked position to the locked position when the cage is in an unlocking position. The releasable roller clutch permits rotation of the shaft relative to the clutch housing in both directions when the cage is in the unlocking position.
