Conductive boot for power tool protection

Apparatus for high voltage power line maintenance and repair. In some embodiments, a power tool has a housing which encloses an electrical load and a control electronics circuit using a first shield as a layer of conductive material which is open at a battery pack receiving slot of the housing configured to receive a removable battery pack. A removable boot surrounds the removeable battery pack and has a second shield as a layer of conductive material which combines with the first shield to form a combined shield that nominally encloses the power tool and the boot. An insulative hot stick supports the power tool at a distal end and a user interface at a proximal end. The user interface includes a communication circuit that communicates with the control electronics circuit via a non-conductive communication link that extends along the hot stick to selectively activate the electrical load.

A processing system for a workpiece, with a thread formation device (44) for forming a thread in a workpiece, comprising a housing and one or more tool take-ups for a thread forming tool, rotatably and displaceably mounted in or on the housing, a linear drive and a rotational drive for the tool take-up(s) and a take-up device with one or more take-ups (19) for integrating the thread formation device (44), is characterised in that the thread formation device (44) can be integrated into the take-up device by means of a disconnectable plug connection.

Lithium-based battery pack

An electrical combination including a power tool and a battery pack. The power tool includes power tool terminals. The battery pack is configured to be interfaced with the power tool. The battery pack includes a battery pack housing, at least three terminals, and a plurality of battery cells. The battery pack terminals include a positive terminal, a negative terminal, and a sense terminal. The at least three terminals are configured to be interfaced with the power tool terminals. The plurality of battery cells are arranged within and supported by the battery pack housing. Each of the battery cells has a lithium-based chemistry and a respective state of charge, and power is transferable between the battery cells and the power tool. A circuit is configured to monitor the battery cells, detect a charge imbalance among the battery cells, and prevent the battery pack from operating when the charge imbalance is detected.

A multiple tool for a punching device, in particular for a turret punch press has a housing and a tool head interacting with the punching device. A thread cutter magazine including a plurality of thread cutters is connected to the tool head. A selection device is provided to select an active thread cutter which interacts with a workpiece for thread cutting. A thread cutter drive device is provided to drive the active thread cutter. As a result, a multiple tool is obtained which expands the range of applications of a punching device.

Continuously variable transmission

A variable speed transmission having a plurality of tilting balls and opposing input and output discs is illustrated and described that provides an infinite number of speed combinations over its transmission ratio range. The use of a planetary gear set allows minimum speeds to be in reverse and the unique geometry of the transmission allows all of the power paths to be coaxial, thereby reducing overall size and complexity of the transmission in comparison to transmissions achieving similar transmission ratio ranges.
