Environmental barrier coating with oxygen-scavenging particles having barrier shell
A gas turbine engine article includes a substrate and an environmental barrier coating disposed on the substrate. The environmental barrier coating includes oxygen-scavenging particles. Each oxygen-scavenging particle includes a silicon-containing core particle encased in an oxygen barrier shell.
Corrosion protection with Al/Zn-based coatings
Red rust staining of Al/Zn coated steel strip in “acid rain” or “polluted” environments can be minimised by forming the coating as an Al—Zn—Si—Mg alloy coating with an OT:SDAS ratio greater than a value of 0.5:1, where OT is the overlay thickness on a surface of the strip and SDAS is the measure of the secondary dendrite arm spacing for the Al-rich alpha phase dendrites in the coating. Red rust staining in “acid rain” or “polluted” environments and corrosion at cut edges in marine environments can be minimised in Al—Zn—Si—Mg alloy coatings on steel strip by selection of the composition (principally Mg and Si) and solidification control (principally by cooling rate) and forming Mg.sub.2Si phase particles of a particular morphology in interdendritic channels.
Magnetic core, magnetic component and electronic device
To obtain a magnetic core having an improved withstand voltage property while maintaining a high relative magnetic permeability, and the like. The magnetic core contains large particles observed as soft magnetic particles having a Heywood diameter of 5 μm or more and 25 μm or less and small particles observed as soft magnetic particles having a Heywood diameter of 0.5 μm or more and less than 5 μm in a cross section. C1<C2 is satisfied in which an average circularity of the small particles close to the large particles is C1 and an average circularity of all small particles observed in the cross section including small particles not close to the large particles is C2. The small particles close to the large particles are defined as small particles whose distance from centroids of the small particles to a surface of the large particles is 3 μm or less.

Plasmonic Nanoparticle Layers with Controlled Orientation
A method of making an article comprising one or more layers of plasmonic nanoparticles located between opposing layers of dielectric materials and an article comprising one or more layers of plasmonic nanoparticles located between opposing layers of dielectric materials.
Metal powder particles
A method for surface treatment of a metal material in a powder state is provided, the method including obtaining a powder formed from a plurality of particles of the metal material to be treated; and subjecting the powder to an ion implantation process by directing a beam of singly-charged or multi-charged ions towards an outer surface of the particles, the beam being produced by a source of singly-charged or multi-charged ions, whereby the particles have an overall spherical shape with a radius (R). There is also provided a material in a powder state formed from a plurality of particles having a ceramic outer layer and a metal core, the particles having an overall spherical shape.
Superhard tool tip, method for making same and tool comprising same
A tip (20) for a rotary machine tool comprising a superhard structure (12) joined to a cemented carbide substrate 14 by means of at least one intermediate layer (161, 62, 163) disposed between the superhard structure (12) and the cemented carbide substrate (14), the intermediate layer or layers (161, 162, 163) comprising grains of superhard material and grains of a metal carbide material dispersed in a metal binder material.
MANUFACTURING METHOD OF SINTERED ALLOY, SINTERED-ALLOY COMPACT, AND SINTERED ALLOY
Mixed powder that contains first hard particles, second hard particles, graphite particles, and iron particles is used to manufacture a sintered alloy. The first hard particle is a Fe—Mo—Cr—Mn based alloy particle, the second hard particle is a Fe—Mo—Si based alloy particle. The mixed powder contains 5 to 50 mass % of the first hard particles, 1 to 8 mass % of the second hard particles, and 0.5 to 1.0 mass % of the graphite particles when total mass of the first hard particles, the second hard particles, the graphite particles, and the iron particles is set as 100 mass %.
METAL-COATED STEEL STRIP
A steel strip having a metal coating on at least one surface of the strip is disclosed. The strip is characterised in that the coating includes aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy that contains magnesium and the coating has small size spangles.
