Methods and Apparatus for Shape Control
In exemplary implementations of this invention, a shape controller controls the shape of a bladder as the bladder inflates. The shape controller includes a first set of regions and a second set of regions. The second set of regions is more flexible than the first set of regions. The shape controller is embedded within, or adjacent to, a wall of the bladder. When the bladder is inflated, the overall shape of the bladder bends in areas adjacent to the more flexible regions of the shape controller. For example, the shape controller may comprise paper and the more flexible regions may comprise creases in the paper. Or, for example, the more flexible regions may comprise notches or indentations. In some implementations of this invention, a multi-state shape display changes shape as it inflates, with additional bumps forming as pressure in the display increases.
Composite structure, packaging material and formed product using same, production methods thereof, and coating liquid
A composite structure disclosed includes a base (X) and a layer (Y). The layer (Y) includes a mixture of a metal oxide (A), a phosphorus compound (B), and a compound (L.sup.a) (silicon compound). Examples of the phosphorus compound (B) and the compound (L.sup.a) include a compound containing a site capable of reacting with the metal oxide (A). When the number of moles of metal atoms (M) derived from the metal oxide (A) is denoted by N.sub.M and the number of moles of Si atoms derived from the compound (L.sup.a) is denoted by N.sub.Si, 0.01≦N.sub.Si/N.sub.M≦0.30 is satisfied. When the number of moles of phosphorus atoms derived from the phosphorus compound (B) is denoted by N.sub.P, 0.8≦N.sub.M/N.sub.P≦4.5 is satisfied.
ANTIMICROBIAL BIODEGRADABLE COMPOSITIONS FOR FOOD CONTACT ARTICLES
The present disclosure provides a food contact article. According to one embodiment, the food contact article includes at least one food contact surface. This at least one food contact surface is made up of at least 50 weight percent of at least one biodegradable polymer, such as polyhydroxyalkanoates, and from about 0.1 weight percent to about 1.0 weight percent of at least one antimicrobial agent.
ADHESIVE COMPOSITIONS AND USE THEREOF
The invention provides adhesives comprising at least one polymer component which contains at least 65 weight percent propylene, at least one nucleator and at least one functionalized wax. The inventive adhesives have increased heat resistance and decreased set-time, making them particularly well suited for assembly and packaging applications.
