Composite construction panels and applications thereof
In one aspect, composite construction materials are described herein. In some embodiments, a composite construction panel comprises a substrate layer, a cover layer separated from the substrate layer by one or more spacers, and at least one mat disposed between the substrate layer and the cover layer, wherein the mat comprises at least one phase change material disposed in at least one phase change region.
Cementitious panels with swellable materials and methods of providing a moisture or water barrier in cementitious panels using swellable materials
Provided are cementitious panel that include a swellable material within a core layer, a dense layer, and/or a sheet of facing material that make up a cementitious panel, as well as methods of manufacturing such cementitious panels that include a swellable material and methods of providing a moisture or water barrier in a cementitious panel.
MINERAL FIBRE BOARD
A high density mineral fibre board having a formaldehyde free binder has acceptable strength and good dimensional stability.
Sealing products for individual wells in multi-well arrays
A heat sealing product suitable for seating one or more individual containers, said heat sealing product comprising: (i) a plurality of individual heat seals set out in a configuration substantially corresponding to the shape and configuration of the container(s) to be sealed, the size and shape of the individual heat seals corresponding substantially to the size and shape of the tops of the individual container(s) to be sealed; (ii) a peelable support film layer coated on one side with a low tack adhesive, the low tack adhesive serving to hold the individual heat seals in place on the support film layer in the desired configuration prior to the sealing process; (iii) alignment points in the sealing product adapted to enable the heat sealing product and therefore the individual heat seals of the heat sealing product to be aligned substantially exactly with respect to the individual containers to be sealed.

Macro fiber for composite articles
A macro fiber for a composite article may include a plurality of inner fibers. Each one of the inner fibers may have an inner fiber final cross-sectional size of less than approximately 100 nanometers. The inner fibers may be surrounded by matrix material.
Prepreg and carbon fiber reinforced composite materials
A prepreg containing a carbon fiber [A] and a thermosetting resin [B], and in addition, satisfying at least one of the following (1) and (2). (1) a thermoplastic resin particle or fiber [C] and a conductive particle or fiber [D] are contained, and weight ratio expressed by [compounding amount of [C] (parts by weight)]/[compounding amount of [D] (parts by weight)] is 1 to 1000. (2) a conductive particle or fiber of which thermoplastic resin nucleus or core is coated with a conductive substance [E] is contained.
Method for making improved composite materials
A strip of curable prepreg comprising unidirectional fibers aligned with the length of the strip, the fibers being at least partially impregnated with curable thermosetting resin and comprising a flexible polymeric sheet on an outer face of the strip, wherein the strip has a substantially rectangular cross-section defining a width and a thickness of the strip.
Process of forming a crystal having a particular shape and the crystal formed by the process
A crystal can be formed using vapor deposition. In one set of embodiments, the crystal can be grown such that the crystal selectively grown along a particular surface at a relatively faster rate as compared to another surface. In another embodiment, the assist material may aid in transporting or depositing the vapor species of a constituent to surfaces of the crystal. In a further set of embodiments, the crystal can be vapor grown in the presence of an assist material that is attracted to or repelled from a particular location of the crystal to increase or reduce crystal growth rate at a region adjacent to the location. The position of the relatively locally greater net charge within the assist material may affect the crystal plane to which the assist material is attracted or repelled. An as-grown crystal may be achieved that has a predetermined geometric shape.
Tyre for wheels of heavy transport vehicles
A tire includes a carcass structure including at least one carcass ply, a belt structure applied in a radially outer position with respect to the carcass structure and a tread band applied in a radially outer position with respect to the belt structure. The belt structure includes at least one reinforcing strip incorporating a plurality of reinforcing elements arranged substantially in the circumferential direction. The reinforcing elements include at least one high-elongation metal cord. The metal cord includes a plurality of intertwined strands and each strand includes a plurality of filaments. Advantageously all the filaments of each strand have a diameter not greater than 0.175 mm.
