Alkyl aromatic hydroalkylation for the production of plasticizers
Provided are compounds of the following: ##STR00001##
wherein R.sub.1 is a saturated or unsaturated cyclic hydrocarbon optionally substituted with an alkyl and/or an OXO-ester, and R.sub.2 is a C.sub.4 to C.sub.14 hydrocarbyl, preferably the residue of a C.sub.4 to C.sub.14 OXO-alcohol. Also provided are processes for making the compounds and plasticized polymer compositions containing said compounds.
FIBRE-BASED SUPPORT CONTAINING A LAYER OF A FUNCTIONALIZED WATER-SOLUBLE POLYMER, METHOD OF PRODUCTION AND USE THEREOF
A method for producing a cellulose and/or synthetic fibre-based support of which at least one surface is coated with a layer containing at least one water-soluble polymer comprising: hydroxyl or primary-secondary amino functional groups, at least some of which have been functionalized beforehand with at least one organic compound comprising at least one epoxy functional group, and at least one R.sup.1 group wherein R.sup.1 is a vinyl functional group or at least one Si(R.sup.2).sub.3 functional group and wherein R.sup.2=hydrogen atom, hydroxyl, alkoxy, alkyl, and combinations thereof.
Sizing compositions and glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites
The present invention relates to sizing compositions, glass fibers at least partially coated with sizing compositions, and glass fiber reinforced composite materials. In one embodiment, a sizing composition comprises at least one maleic anhydride copolymer, at least one coupling agent, and a reaction product of an alkoxylated amine and a polycarboxylic acid, which is further reacted with an epoxy compound.
PELLET TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR USE THEREOF
The present invention relates to a method for reducing an amount of glass filaments separating from pellets comprising a thermoplastic polymer sheath intimately surrounding the glass filaments. The method can include transporting the pellets through a piping system and/or by a vibrating conveyor means. The pellets have a length of at least 13 mm. The amount of glass filaments separating from the pellets when such pellets are subjected to repetitive mechanical loads in transportation is reduced as compared other pellets subjected to the same repetitive mechanical load, such that blocking caused by the glass filaments within the pellet transport system is reduced or eliminated as compared to transporting pellets having a length of less than or equal to 12.1 mm.
WATER ACTIVATED EYELASH
The invention discloses a water activated eyelash, comprising a water activated bonding layer, a glue fixing layer, a soft support, and eyelash bodies, wherein the soft support is made of rubber to form a strip structure with a groove on one side; one end of each of the several eyelash bodies passes through the other side of the soft support and is fixed by the glue fixing layer at the bottom of the groove, and the corresponding groove on the outside of the glue fixing layer is further provided with a water activated bonding layer; by arranging the water activated bonding layer, the water activated bonding layer is wiped with water when in use so that it is changed from non-sticky to sticky. The invention provides a false eyelash that can be sticky when exposed to water, thereby reducing pollution and being convenient to use.
Fibers sized with polyetherketoneketones
Fibers sized with a coating of amorphous polyetherketoneketone are useful in the preparation of reinforced polymers having improved properties, wherein the amorphous polyetherketoneketone can improve the compatibility of the fibers with the polymeric matrix.
Rod shaped body and medical device
The present invention relates to a medical device. In particular, the present invention concerns a medical device which can be detected by means of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
METHODS FOR PRODUCING METAL CARBIDE MATERIALS
Methods of producing silicon carbide, and other metal carbide materials. The method comprises reacting a carbon material (e.g., fibers, or nanoparticles, such as powder, platelet, foam, nanofiber, nanorod, nanotube, whisker, graphene (e.g., graphite), fullerene, or hydrocarbon) and a metal or metal oxide source material (e.g., in gaseous form) in a reaction chamber at an elevated temperature ranging up to approximately 2400° C. or more, depending on the particular metal or metal oxide, and the desired metal carbide being produced. A partial pressure of oxygen in the reaction chamber is maintained at less than approximately 1.01×10.sup.2 Pascal, and overall pressure is maintained at approximately 1 atm.
ARTICLES CONTAINING FUNCTIONAL POLYMERIC PHASE CHANGE MATERIALS AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
An article comprises a substrate and a functional polymeric phase change material bound to the substrate. In some aspects the functional polymeric phase change material is chemically bound to the substrate and can be accomplished by at least one of covalent bonding or electrovalent bonding. The functional polymeric phase change material can comprise a reactive function selected from the group consisting of an acid anhydride group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an alkyl group, an aldehyde group, an amide group, an amino group and their salts, a N-substituted amino group, an aziridine, an aryl group, a carbonyl group, a carboxy group and their salts, an epoxy group, an ester group, an ether group, a glycidyl group, a halo group, a hydride group, a hydroxy group, an isocyanate group, a thiol group, a disulfide group, a silyl or silane group, an urea group, and an urethane group, and wherein the substrate comprises at least one of cellulose, wool, fur, leather, polyester and nylon. Methods of producing the articles are also disclosed.
