Flame resistant finished fabrics exhibiting water repellency and methods for making the same

Fabrics that are exhibit water repellency, abrasion resistance, and optionally flame resistance are described herein. The fabrics include a plurality of fibers (such as flame resistant fibers) and a finish that imparts water repellency and abrasion resistance to the fibers. The fabrics are free or substantially free from alkylfluoropolymers. Also described herein are garments including the fabrics.

Interior material of vehicle

An interior material of a vehicle includes: a fabric layer made of a tricoat fabric, a foam layer disposed on a lower surface of the fabric layer, and an antifouling layer disposed at least between an upper surface of the fabric layer or the fabric layer and the foam layer. The tricoat fabric includes a combination of at least one of a polyurethane yarn, a high-elongation polyester yarn, or a polyester yarn.

Blends of fluoroalkyl-containing ester oligomers with polycarbodiimide(s)

For imparting enhanced water-repellency and oil-repellency properties to substrates compositions comprising blends of (A) one or more ester oligomers and (B) one or more polycarbodiimides. Also methods for applying such compositions and articles treated with such compositions.

Non-fluorinated water-based superhydrophobic surfaces

A superhydrophobic surface includes a substrate treated with a non-fluorinated composition, the composition including a hydrophobic component free of fluorine; a filler particle; and water, wherein the composition is at a pH greater than 7, and wherein the hydrophobic component is in an aqueous dispersion. The superhydrophobic surface alternatively includes a substrate treated with a non-fluorinated composition, the composition including a hydrophobic polymer free of fluorine; an exfoliated graphite filler particle including acid functional groups; water; and a stabilizing compound, wherein the composition is at a pH greater than 7, and wherein the hydrophobic polymer is in an aqueous dispersion.

Insulated radiant barriers in apparel

Fabrics made for apparel, tents, sleeping bags and the like, in various composites, constructed such that a combination of substrate layers and insulation layers is configured to provide improved thermal insulation. The fabric composites are constructed to form a radiant barrier against heat loss via radiation and via conduction from a body.

An aspect of the invention provides a protective garment comprising a pair of arms and a body portion having a vertical split along its length, the body portion further comprising an opening for receiving a user's head therethrough, wherein at least a part of the protective garment is manufactured from a water repellent material comprising a polyester base and polyurethane coating having a combined weight of 70 to 100 grams per square meter. Another aspect of the invention provides a protective garment comprising a water repellent material comprising a polyester base and polyurethane coating having a combined weight of 70 to 100 grams per square meter. Such a protective garment could include a gown, drape, or bib, for example.

COMPOSITE NYLON AND POLYESTER WOVEN FABRIC

A ripstop woven fabric woven from a combination of nylon yarn and polyester yarn. The nylon yarn forms between 40% to 80% of the woven fabric while the polyester yarn forms between 20% to 60% of the finished woven fabric. The fabric may be woven in a ripstop pattern. The face side of the ripstop fabric may be coated with one or more of a durable water repellent (DWR) and silicone coating, while the back side of the ripstop fabric is coated with a polyurethane coating. The ripstop fabric has an uncoated fabric weight range of between 23 and 40 GSM while the ripstop fabric has a coated fabric weight range of between 29 and 50 GSM.

Impervious breathable ethylene copolymer film

An impervious breathable film made of a composition that does not include polymers having polyether units and includes one or more polymers, at least one of which is an ethylene copolymer. Said impervious breathable film is moreover made of a comonomer, having the function of an acid or one of the derivatives thereof. In said impervious breathable film, the weight of comonomers, having the function of carboxylic acid or a derivative of said acid, is greater than or equal to 21 wt % in said copolymer. Said impervious film moreover relates to a slip additive. The film has a thickness of 2 to 30 μm. Also, an impervious breathable structure, containing a fibrous material and said film, and moreover relates to a method for manufacturing said structure. Said film and said structure are advantageously usable as an impervious breathable material for, for example, construction siding.
