Articles of composite construction and methods of manufacture thereof
An article manufactured in a mould and which comprises a structural composite of plastics layers, the article having a wall defining an internal space for holding contents therein; wherein, the wall is formed from at least two layers of plastics materials; wherein a first of said layers comprises a thermoplastics material and at least a second layer comprises a thermosetting resin and a fibrous layer.
IMPRESSION WHEEL FOR MAKING RESPIRATORY FACE MASKS
An improved impression wheel for use within respiratory face mask manufacturing machines that includes a first, second, and third series of spaced helicoidal teeth shaped and adapted to more efficiently and securely interconnect respective layers of respiratory face masks.
Protective face masks
An improved protective face mask used to filter out hazardous pollution and airborne germs and viruses. Embodiments include a three layer version including a first spunbond TETHYS SHIELD treated layer, a meltblown filtration layer, and a second spunbond layer; a four layer version further including a gasket layer formed of a felt material; and a five layer version further including an activated carbon layer in between the spunbond TETHYS SHIELD treated layer and the meltblown filtration layer.
LAYERED AEROGEL COMPOSITES, RELATED AEROGEL MATERIALS, AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE
Composites comprising aerogel materials are generally described. Layered aerogel composites may be of great utility for a wide variety of applications including lightweight structures, ballistic panels, multilayer thermal and acoustic insulation, spacecraft reentry shielding, supercapacitors, batteries, acoustic insulation, and flexible garments. Layered aerogel composites may be prepared by combing layers of fiber-containing sheets and multisheet plies with aerogel materials. Composites comprising mechanically strong aerogels and reticulated aerogel structures are described. Various nanocomposite aerogel materials may be prepared to facilitate production of composites with desirable functions and properties. Layered aerogel composites and related aerogel materials described in the present disclosure have not been previously possible due to a lack of viable aerogel formulations, a lack of methods for adhering and joining aerogel materials to each other and other materials, and a lack of methods that enable combining of fibrous materials and aerogels into layered structures in the same material envelope. Aerogel composites described herein enable specific capabilities that have not been previously possible with aerogels or through other means, for example, the ability to efficiency slow impacts from bullets and other ballistic bodies using a lightweight (<2 g/cm.sup.3 density) material, bear load as structural members at a fraction of the weight of conventional technologies, or simultaneously serve as a structural or flexible material that stores electrical energy.
Imitation leather and method for producing same
An imitation leather including a three-dimensional textile supporting material and a PVC-based covering that is applied to one side of the supporting material and includes three successively applied layers. The first layer of which is applied directly to the supporting material without an adhesion-promoting glue layer, the second layer of which is embodied as an intermediate layer and applied directly to the first layer and the third layer of which serves as a top layer and is applied directly to the second layer. This invention also discloses a method for producing such an imitation leather and an interior component of a motor vehicle having a visible surface that is composed of such an imitation leather.
Method for nonwoven textiles with variable zonal properties
Methods and systems are provided for a process to generate a nonwoven textile. In one example, the nonwoven textile may have layered, zonal properties resulting from entangling of two or more types of staple fibers through a merging region between the layers of staple fibers while maintaining distinct zones, each zone comprising a type of staple fiber. Furthermore, the process may include embedding a filament layer into the nonwoven textile via a continuous assembly line.
