The present invention relates to a nonwoven material for use as an absorbent wiping material produced by hydroentangling of a substrate web comprising at least one layer of fibers selected from amongst synthetic fibers, regenerated fibers and natural fibers, wherein the nonwoven material (1) has a base level h.sub.0 with protuberances (2, 3) on one side, wherein the protuberances (2, 3) form at least a first and a second surface structure respectively in the form of first (2) and second (3) protuberances from the base level h.sub.0, wherein the first protuberances (2) have a height h.sub.1 from the base level h.sub.0 and the second protuberances (3) have a height h.sub.2 from the base level h.sub.0, where h.sub.2 is higher than h.sub.1, and each of the second protuberances (3) occupies an area of the surface of the base level at least 4 times greater than each of the first protuberances (2). The present invention also relates to a method for producing a nonwoven material (111), wherein hydroentangling of a substrate web (101), which comprises natural fibers having a length of less than 10 mm, takes place on a surface-shaped carrier device (109) containing holes which form at least a first and a second pattern in the form of first and second holes respectively, wherein the second holes are at least 4 times larger than the first holes.

Fibers for polyethylene nonwoven fabric

The present invention relates to nonwoven webs or fabrics. In particular, the present invention relates to nonwoven webs having superior abrasion resistance and excellent softness characteristics. The nonwoven materials comprise monocomponent fibers having a surface comprising a polyethylene, said nonwoven material having a fuzz/abrasion of less than 0.7 mg/cm.sup.3. The present invention is also related to fibers having a diameter in a range of from 0.1 to 50 denier, said fibers comprising a polymer blend, wherein the polymer blend comprises: from 40 weight percent to 80 weight percent (by weight of the polymer blend) of a first polymer which is a homogeneous ethylene/α-olefin interpolymer having: a melt index of from about 1 to about 1000 grams/10 minutes, and a density of from 0.870 to 0.950 grams/centimeter.sup.3, and from 74 to 20 percent by weight of a second polymer which is an ethylene homopolymer or an ethylene/α-olefin interpolymer having a melt index of from about 1 to about 1000 grams/10 minutes, and preferably a density which is at least 0.01 grams/centimeter.sup.3 greater than the density of the first polymer.

According to one embodiment, a method of forming a facer includes forming a first layer of nonwoven glass fibers and positioning a second layer of reinforcement fibers atop the first layer of nonwoven glass fibers. The method also includes coating the first layer of nonwoven glass fibers and/or the second layer of reinforcement fibers with a binder composition and pressing the first layer of nonwoven glass fibers and the second layer of reinforcement fibers together between a pair of rollers. The binder composition is then dried to couple the first layer of nonwoven glass fibers and the second layer of reinforcement fibers to form the facer. The first layer of nonwoven glass fibers and/or the second layer of reinforcement fibers are free of a material coating prior to coating of the binder composition.

More particularly, an edge area of the non-woven textile may be heatbonded with an edge area of the other textile element at the seam. In other products, the non-woven textile may be joined with another component, whether a textile or a non-textile.

Renewable Polyester Fibers having a Low Density

Fibers that are formed from a thermoplastic composition that contains a rigid renewable polyester and has a voided structure and low density are provided. To achieve such a structure, the renewable polyester is blended with a polymeric toughening additive in which the toughening additive can be dispersed as discrete physical domains within a continuous matrix of the renewable polyester. Fibers are thereafter formed and then stretched or drawn at a temperature below the glass transition temperature of the polyester (i.e., “cold drawn”).
