A method of manufacturing a connecting rod is provided. The method includes the steps of (1) forming, on a long rod material, a rotation transmitting portion having a non-circular cross section; (2) cutting the rod material to provide the rotation transmitting portion at each of both ends; and (3) forming, by cutting work, a small-diameter column portion and a tapered portion at a first end of the cut rod material from a tip-end side. The small-diameter column portion has a diameter smaller than a diameter of the rotation transmitting portion. The tapered portion is provided continuously from the small-diameter column portion and gradually increases in diameter. The rotation transmitting portion is provided continuously from the tapered portion.

Systems and methods for minimizing a total number of cuts to separate media instances imaged onto a media sheet
09833921 · 2017-12-05 ·

A system and method utilizes strategies, priority rules, specifications, and comparisons to calculate the fewest number of cuts to separate individual instances from an imaged media sheet. Embodiments of the systems and methods may produce an optimal or more efficient arrangement of the media instances on an imaged media to minimize a total number of cuts to separate the instances, and thus reduce an overall cost.

Tool bit apparatus, system, and method for cutting an object
09770761 · 2017-09-26 · ·

A system, a method and a cutting apparatus may use a bit to cut an object. The apparatus may have a bit connected to a cutting block on a cutting apparatus. The cutting apparatus may rotate about the object while the bit may advance into the object to cut the object. The cutting apparatus may have another bit located opposite to the bit to bevel an edge of the object. The cutting system may reduce point loads and/or provide an equalized load. The cutting system may reduce tool pressures when cutting a pipe and may provide extended tool and/or bit life.

Pre-cut infeed system

Embodiments provide a pre-cut infeed system for a machine center, such as an edger. A pre-cut infeed system may include an infeed, one or more saws arranged along the infeed, and a scanner optimizer system. The scanner optimizer system may scan a workpiece and determine whether greater value can be obtained from the workpiece by cutting the workpiece transversely into two or more pieces upstream of the machine center. If so, the workpiece may be cut transversely by the saw(s) positioned along the infeed, and the cut pieces may be fed sequentially into the machine center.

Wound packing

A wound packing material is provided, suitable for use in negative pressure wound therapy, including a body of a porous material, the body including frangible regions defining a plurality of portions, the frangible regions allowing the portions to be selectively removed from the body. Methods of manufacturing the wound packing material, and methods of its use are also provided.

CORNER SAW

A cutting apparatus for cutting corner pieces formed of stone or other materials for use as building faces or for cutting flat pieces is disclosed herein. The cutting apparatus includes a frame with a first and a second conveyor operatively attached to the frame. The first and the second conveyors are configured to carry a workpiece from a first end of the frame to the second end of the frame. The first conveyor is disposed at an angle of about 45 degrees to a ground surface supporting the cutting apparatus. The second conveyor is disposed at an angle of about 45 degrees to the ground surface supporting the cutting apparatus, wherein the second conveyor is positioned perpendicularly to the first conveyor so as to form a V-shaped channel therewith. The cutting apparatus further includes a first cutting blade operatively attached to the frame and positioned generally parallel to the first conveyor and a second cutting blade operatively attached to the frame and positioned generally parallel to the second conveyor.

Automated machine for improved slitting and wedge cutting whole fruits and vegetables

An automated food processing machine includes a receptacle, a slitter assembly, and a controller. The slitter assembly is coupled to a first motion actuator and includes a third motion actuator coupled to a slitter blade. In response to an input signal, the controller is configured to (1) actuate the first motion actuator to translate the slitter assembly along a first axis until the slitter blade has penetrated into a whole fruit or vegetable, and (2) actuate the third motion actuator to move the slitter blade relative to the slitter assembly with a component along an axis that is not parallel to the first axis.
