Chopper assembly and method for manufacturing chopped fibers
An assembly for chopping glass fibers including a cutter wheel having a plurality of radially extending blades and a cot wheel adjacent the cutter wheel. The cot wheel including an inner hub, an elastomeric ring mounted onto the inner hub for rotation therewith; and a retaining device fixably attached to the hub and engaging the elastomeric ring to resist separation of the elastomeric ring from the hub during rotation of the cot wheel.
Rotary cylindrical attachable sleeve
A sleeve for attaching to a cylindrical platform of a die cutting machine. The sleeve includes a first elastic member and a second elastic member. The sleeve may be arranged in a cylindrical configuration by aligning a first abutting surface of the first elastic member to a second abutting surface of the second elastic member. The first elastic member and the second elastic member can be mounted on a cylindrical platform without the need for a locking mechanism to secure the sleeve onto the cylindrical platform.
Fiber cutting device
A fiber cutting device is disclosed having a cutting head with one or more blades disposed across a surface of the cutting head and disposed to rotate about a cutting head axis. An anvil roller is disposed and driven to rotate about an anvil axis and has a surface in momentary contact with each the one or more blades of the cutting head. Fibers are delivered to the device across a feeder. A feed control toggle may be moved to a stop position, where a first end of the feed control toggle presses the plurality of fibers against the feeder to stop motion of the fibers and prevent cutting. Contact with the anvil roller to draw the fibers between the cutting head and the anvil may also be controlled by the feed control toggle. A flap for sliding contact between the fibers and the anvil may also be used.
Lead edge mechanical binding device and method
A cutting cylinder pair for cutting a substrate in a folder of a printing press is provided which includes a cutting cylinder, the cutting cylinder including a knife and a binding pin adjacent the knife in a circumferential direction of the cutting cylinder; and an anvil cylinder, the anvil cylinder including a cutting rubber, the cutting rubber engaging the knife and the binding pin as the cutting cylinder and anvil cylinder rotate, the binding pin positioned on the cutting cylinder to impart a dimple to a substrate passing between the cutting cylinder and anvil cylinder.
A cylindrical sleeve for attaching to a cylindrical platform of a die cutting machine, the cylindrical sleeve including a first elastic member and a second elastic member substantially identical to the first elastic member, each of the first elastic member or the second elastic member comprising an inner surface, an outer surface opposite to the inner surface, a first abutting surface, a second abutting surface opposite to the first abutting surface, a first end surface, and a second end surface opposite to the first end surface, wherein the first abutting surface and the second abutting surface are planar surfaces, wherein the cylindrical sleeve is formed by aligning the first abutting surface of the first elastic member to the second abutting surface of the second elastic member, and aligning the second abutting surface of the first elastic member to the first abutting surface of the second elastic member, and wherein an inner surface of the cylindrical sleeve formed by the inner surfaces of the first and second elastic members encompasses a cylindrical hollow space having an axis inclined relative to at least one of the first abutting surface or the second abutting surface of the first elastic member.
