Wood cutting band saw blade having reduced kerf dust
A wood cutting band saw blade includes a band having a continuous band portion and having on at least one length-wise edge a plurality of teeth. The plurality of teeth extend upward from the continuous band portion, and the length-wise edge extends in a horizontal direction. Each tooth includes a cutting edge and a back angle edge defining a tip. Each tooth also includes a gullet having a forward edge extending upward from a location at a lowest extent of the gullet to the back angle edge. The gullet further includes a rearward edge extending upward from a vertical level at the lowest extent of the gullet to a cutting edge of an adjacent tooth. The location at the lowest extent of the gullet is closer to the tip than to a tip of the adjacent tooth.
Saw blade with tooth form projection
A saw blade, such as a metal-cutting band saw blade, has a cutting edge including a plurality of teeth. A plurality of the teeth include a tip, a clearance surface located on one side of the tip, a rake face located on an opposite side of the tip relative to the clearance surface, a gullet, and a substantially flat, linear, or non-curvilinear projection formed between the rake face and the gullet and projecting outwardly relative to the rake face. The projection is inclined at an acute angle relative to a plane extending between the tips of consecutive unset teeth. The projection defines an inner end adjacent to the rake face and an outer end adjacent to the gullet. The inner end is located at a depth below the tip of at least about 25/1000 inch, and the distance between the inner end and the outer end of the projection in a direction substantially parallel to the plane extending between the tips of at least two teeth is less than about 65/1000 inch.
Saw blade and method of shaping a back edge of a saw blade
A saw blade includes a first edge having teeth and a second edge principally opposed to the first edge, which second edge extends in a first principal direction of extension along a first part of its principal extension and in a second principal direction of extension along a second part of its principal extension, neither said first nor said second principal direction of extension being parallel to a principal direction of extension of said first edge, but said first principal direction of extension forming a first and positive angle (A) with said principal direction of extension of said first edge and said second principal direction of extension forming a second and negative angle (B) with said principal direction of extension of said first edge.
Wood cutting band saw blade having reduced kerf dust
A wood cutting band saw blade includes a plurality of teeth extending upward from a continuous band portion. Each tooth includes a cutting edge and a back angle edge defining a tip, and a gullet. The gullet includes a forward edge extending from the back angle edge to a lowest point of the gullet, and a rearward edge extending upward from the lowest point to a cutting edge of an adjacent tooth. In some embodiments, the lowest point of the gullet is closer to the tip than to a tip of the adjacent tooth.
Band saw blade for cutting structural workpieces
A band saw blade may include a cutting edge defined by a number of teeth. Each tooth may include a tip, a rake face, a primary clearance surface defining a primary relief angle, a secondary clearance surface defining a secondary relief angle greater than the primary relief angle, a tertiary clearance surface defining a tertiary relief angle greater than the secondary relief angle, a first curvilinear protrusion formed between the secondary clearance surface and the tertiary clearance surface, a gullet surface, and a second curvilinear protrusion formed between the rake face and the gullet surface. The teeth may be spaced at varying pitch distances such that a difference between a minimum teeth per inch (TPI) based on a maximum pitch distance and a maximum TPI based on a minimum pitch distance is equal to or greater than 1, and may define a kerf width between 0.115 inches to 0.140 inches.
