DIE BLOCK, STEEL-RULE DIE ASSEMBLY COMPRISING THE SAME, AND METHOD THEREOF
The invention relates to steel-rule cutting dies having a die block with at least one kerf configured to receive a corresponding steel-rule intended to be partially inserted into the kerf. The die block also has at least one element having magnetic properties, such as for instance a magnet, located or embedded in proximity to each kerf for providing a magnetic field that retains the steel-rule when the steel-rule is received into the corresponding kerf. The presence of the magnetic element(s) in proximity to the kerf(s) allows maintaining the corresponding rule(s) in position within its kerf even if the kerf is cut “loosely”. The corresponding rule may be quickly and easily inserted and accurately maintained even if the die block expand or retract under atmospheric variations. Among other advantages, the invention allows better stability of the cutting-die, faster leveling on press, and increased the number of re-knifing and longer run-time.
Punch die
A punch die includes: a punch body including a punch edge portion at a lower end portion along an axis, a key projecting from an outer periphery, and a punch driver at an upper portion along the axis; a punch guide including an inner hollow elongated along the axis and receiving the punch body to be movable along the axis, and a keyway formed on an internal periphery of the inner hollow to extend along the axis and mesh with the key; a retainer collar rotatably combined with the punch guide at an upper end along the axis and around the axis, the punch driver passing through the retainer collar to be movable along the axis; and a punch head screwed in an upper end portion along the axis of the punch driver to regulate a position of the punch driver.
Draw stud connector
A draw stud connector, for use on a punch driver, includes a draw stud having a first end. The draw stud connector also includes a body defining an axis therethrough, the body forming a cavity having an open end, and a wedge at least partially positioned within the cavity and moveable with respect to the body both axially and radially. The wedge allows the first end of the draw stud to move axially into the cavity but does not permit axial removal of the first end of the draw stud from the cavity.
Punch assemblies and universal punch therefor
A punch tip design configured to be universal in its application with wide varieties of punch assemblies, and various punch body designs from which universal application of the punch tip is exemplified. In some cases, ancillary components used with the various punch body designs enhance ease by which the operator can selectively manipulate the same for alternately securing or releasing the punch tip.

Punch holder and punch configurations
Punch holders and corresponding punch configurations configured to increase the ease and speed by which maintenance and/or modification of punches used with the holders can be performed. In some cases, the punch holder can be configured with one or more upper and lower collars operatively situated on differing areas of the holder, with each collar adapted to perform a different action with regard to a punch held by the holder. In some cases, when the upper collar is rotated, a corresponding height adjustment of a punch held by the holder results. In some cases, when the lower collar is rotated, a punch held by the holder is released.

Adjustable punch head assembly
A punch head assembly that includes a punch head including a main body having opposite first and second ends, a longitudinal inner bore, a first passageway extending substantially radially from the inner bore, and a second passageway substantially traversing the first passageway. A ball bearing is received in the first passageway. A pin member is received in the second passageway. The pin member is rotationally movable between first and second positions. A driver is coupled to the punch head and includes a stem extending into the inner bore. The stem has an outer ball engagement surface. The punch head is axially movable with respect to the stem. Axial movement of the pin member in the second passageway moves the ball bearing into and out of engagement with the outer ball engagement surface for adjusting an axial position of the punch head with respect to the driver.
Cutting assembly including clamping assembly
An assembly includes a punch and a clamping assembly. The punch includes a body having a front end and a rear end. The front end has a cutting edge. A passageway extends through the body and a counterbore is provided proximate to a second end of the body. The clamping assembly includes first and second jaws pivotally attached to each other. Each jaw includes a main body having a nose extending from a front surface thereof. The nose has an outer surface which has a diameter which is smaller than the outer diameter of the main body. When the clamping assembly is mated with the punch, the noses seat within the counterbore, and the front surfaces of the main bodies engage against the rear end of the body of the punch.
