MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
[0042] Hereinafter, the present disclosure will be described in the following order with reference to the drawings. [0043] A. Overview [0044] B. Configuration of Reader/Writer Device [0045] C. [0053] A. Overview
[0054] The present disclosure relates to a reader/writer device that is connected to an information terminal by using a cable and communicates with an IC card placed on a card reading surface.
[0055] The reader/writer device can originally perform communication without bringing the IC card into contact with the reader/writer device. However, in a case where the IC card is used for login, it is necessary to keep holding the IC card over the card reading surface of the reader/writer device during a communication period. During login, if the user keeps holding the IC card in the hand and holding the IC card over the card reading surface of the reader/writer device, the user cannot perform other work. Therefore, as illustrated in FIG. 20, a method has been considered in which a reader/writer device 2001 and an IC card 2002 placed on a card reading surface are fastened with a clip (hereinafter, also referred to as a “card holder”) 2003 including a flexible wire or the like, and the IC card is fixed at a communicable position during login. Since the card holder 2003 includes metal, the card holder 2003 has design constraints.
[0056] Furthermore, the reader/writer device of a type externally connected to an information terminal such as a PC is assumed to be placed on various objects such as a desk, a table, or a work table and used. In a case where the reader/writer device is placed on a desk including metal and used, there is a concern that an eddy current is generated in the metal by the magnetic field emitted from the reader/writer device and adversely affects communication between the reader/writer device and the IC card. Therefore, as illustrated in
[0057] In a posture in which the reader/writer device 2101 is placed on the stand 2102 and leaned obliquely instead of being placed flat, the position of the IC card 2103 is more easily displaced. Therefore, the card holder 2003 illustrated in
[0058] Although not illustrated in
[0059] Therefore, the present disclosure proposes a reader/writer device including a reader/writer main body and a stand that supports the reader/writer main body in a posture separated from a setting surface. In the present disclosure, the stand also has a function of fixing an IC card on a card reading surface of the reader/writer main body. Therefore, as illustrated in
[0060] Furthermore, although details will be described later, the stand according to the present disclosure has a structure that supports the reader/writer main body at a location where a cable is inserted into the reader/writer main body, so that the reader/writer main body can be easily leaned in a state where the cable is pierced. Furthermore, the stand according to the present disclosure also has a function of storing the cable that is not used when the stand is detached from the reader/writer main body.
[0061] B. Configuration of Reader/Writer Device
[0062]
[0063]
[0064] The reader/writer main body 110 is slightly larger than the business card-size IC card, and has a size of, for example, about 100 mm×60 mm×10 mm. The reader/writer main body 110 can perform short-range wireless communication or non-contact communication based on, for example, the NFC method with the IC card (not illustrated in
[0065] Furthermore, the reader/writer main body 110 includes a state display unit 112 including a light emitting diode (LED) or the like at an edge on the base side. The state display unit 112 displays an operation state of the reader/writer main body 110 such as a state of communication with the IC card by flashing of emitted light, light emission color, or the like. The stand 120 can be freely attached to and removed from the base side of the reader/writer main body 110, and the state display unit 112 is arranged in a place that is not hidden by the stand 120 even in a state where the stand 120 is attached.
[0066] The stand 120 has both a function of supporting the reader/writer main body 110 in a posture separated from the setting surface of a desk or the like and a function of fixing the IC card (not illustrated in
[0067]
[0068] The reader/writer main body 110 is disassembled into a housing including an upper casing 301 and a lower casing 302, and a substrate 303 incorporated in the housing so as to be sandwiched between the upper casing 301 and the lower casing 302. Furthermore, the state display unit 112 including an LED or the like is also incorporated in the housing. Then, on the base side of the upper casing 301, a cutout portion 304 for exposing the state display unit 112 to the outside is formed.
[0069] Although circuit components such as a communication module, a loop antenna, and other wirings are mounted on the substrate 303, these are not illustrated in
[0070] Furthermore, a USB connector into which a USB connector on the USB cable side is inserted is disposed on the base side of the substrate 303. For reference,
[0071]
[0072] As can be seen from
[0073] C. Functions of Stand
[0074] In this section, the structure and functions of the stand 120 will be mainly described in detail.
[0075] C-1. Function of Fixing IC Card
[0076] The stand 120 has a function of supporting the reader/writer main body 110 in a predetermined posture when the reader/writer device 100 is set on a work surface of a desk or the like, and further has a function of fixing the IC card on the card reading surface 111 of the reader/writer main body 110.
[0077]
[0078]
[0079] The stand 120 can be manufactured by a method such as cast molding using an elastic body such as urethane rubber or elastomer. In addition, it is only required to select the hardness of the urethane rubber such that an appropriate gripping force acts when the reader/writer main body 110 with the IC card 901 placed on the card reading surface 111 is inserted into the opening having the U shape and the reader/writer main body 110 is removed moderately easily. For example, the Shore D hardness of 60 is sufficient.
[0080] C-2. Structure of Stand
[0081] As described above, the stand 120 has a substantially U shape, and is fitted to the reader/writer main body 110 such that the base side of the reader/writer main body 110 is sandwiched inside the U shape. In this section, the structure of the stand 120 will be described in detail.
[0082]
[0083] The stand 120 is manufactured by using an elastic body such as urethane rubber (as described above). The side wall portion 1301, the bottom plate portion 1302, and the top plate portion 1303 are integrally molded by a method such as cast molding.
[0084] The bottom plate portion 1302 is a main structural body on which the reader/writer device 100 is placed when the reader/writer device 100 is placed on a setting surface (not illustrated in
[0085] The top plate portion 1303 is a cantilever having one end fixed to the side wall portion 1301 and the other end being a free end. Therefore, for example, the opening having the U shape can be expanded by pushing up the front end of the top plate portion 1303 in the direction of the arrow denoted by reference sign 1311 in
[0086] Note that referring to
[0087] An opening 121 is formed in the side wall portion 1301. In contrast, the USB connector insertion port 305 is provided on the base side of the reader/writer main body 110. Then, as illustrated in
[0088] A more detailed structure of the stand 120 will be described.
[0089] For example, referring to
[0090] Furthermore, for example, referring to
[0091] Furthermore, referring to
[0092] Furthermore, for example, referring to
[0093] C-3. Function of Supporting IC Card
[0094] The stand 120 has a function of supporting the reader/writer main body 110 in a predetermined posture when the reader/writer device 100 is set on a work surface of a desk or the like.
[0095] The reader/writer device 100 is assumed to be put on various objects such as a desk, a table, and a work table and is used. In a case where the reader/writer device 100 is placed on a metal desk and used, there is a concern that an eddy current is generated in the metal by the magnetic field emitted from the reader/writer main body 110 and adversely affects communication between the reader/writer main body 110 and the IC card 901. In contrast, in the case of the reader/writer device 100 according to the present disclosure, the stand 120 is configured to support the reader/writer main body 110 in a posture separated from the setting surface. Therefore, since there is a gap between the reader/writer 110 main body and the setting surface, even if the setting surface includes metal, generation of an eddy current can be prevented by the gap, and the communication state between the reader/writer main body 110 and the IC card 901 can be excellently maintained.
[0096]
[0097] In contrast, as a comparison with
[0098] C-4. Structure of Mounting Cable
[0099] In the case of a reader/writer device externally connected to an information terminal such as a PC by using a USB cable, if the USB cable is routed in various directions, an external force such as a tensile force is assumed to be applied to the reader/writer device in various directions.
[0100] In the case of the present disclosure, as described above, a structure is adopted in which one end of the USB cable 400 is inserted into the base side of the reader/writer main body 110 through the opening 121 of the stand 120, and the direction in which the USB cable 400 comes out from the base side of the reader/writer device 100 is determined (See, for example,
[0101] In addition, as can be seen from
[0102] C-5. Function of Storing Cable
[0103] In each drawing, only the vicinity of the USB connector 401 to be inserted into the reader/writer main body 110 is illustrated as the USB cable 400 connecting the reader/writer main body 110 and the information terminal (not illustrated), but actually, the cable length is about 1 meter, which is a difficult-to-handle length when not in use, and it is inconvenient to carry the USB cable 400 alone.
[0104] As a method of storing a long cable, a method of fixing a bundled cable by using a binding tool such as a clip or a hook and loop fastener is known. However, if the binding tool is used, the number of parts increases.
[0105] In contrast, in the present disclosure, the stand 120 may be used to store the bundled USB cable 400. As can be seen from
[0106] When the reader/writer device 100 is in use, the stand 120 is fitted to the base side of the reader/writer main body 110; however, when not in use, the stand 120 is removed from the reader/writer main body 110. As described above, since the stand 120 having the U shape is manufactured by using an elastic body such as urethane rubber or elastomer, an object inserted into the opening having the U shape can be gripped with an appropriate force. Therefore, as illustrated in
[0107] For example, as already described with reference to
[0108] As already described with reference to
[0109] In the storage state of the USB cable 400 as illustrated in
[0110] D. Internal Configuration of Reader/Writer Main Body
[0111] The reader/writer main body 110 can perform short-range wireless communication with the IC card 901 by using a magnetic field generated when a current flows through the loop antenna.
[0112]
[0113] Each of the loop antenna 1901, the antenna adjustment unit 1902, the RF analog front end (RFFE unit 1903, the control unit 1904, and the USB interface unit 1905 includes circuit components mounted on the substrate 303 (not illustrated in
[0114] The loop antenna 1901 includes, for example, a metal pattern or the like on a loop formed on the substrate 103. The antenna adjustment unit 1902 adjusts the impedance of the loop antenna 1901 so that the loop antenna 1901 and the antenna on the IC card side resonate at a predetermined carrier frequency (for example, 13.56 MHz) to realize non-contact communication by magnetic coupling.
[0115] The RF analog front end control unit 1903 transmits a transmission signal to the antenna adjustment unit 1902 on the basis of a transmission request from the control unit 1904, receives and demodulates a reception signal supplied via the antenna adjustment unit 1902, and passes the reception signal that has been demodulated to the control unit 1904.
[0116] The control unit 1904 integrally controls the entire operation of the reader/writer main body 110. Specifically, the control unit 1904 instructs the RF front end control unit 1903 to transmit data by non-contact communication on the basis of a request from an information terminal (not illustrated) such as a PC connected via USB via the USB interface unit 1905. Furthermore, the control unit 1904 performs processing for transmitting the reception data received and demodulated by the PE front end control unit 1903 to the information terminal via the USB interface unit 1905. Furthermore, the control unit 1904 performs processing for displaying the operation state (for example, the communication state with the IC card) of the reader/writer main body 110 on the state display unit 112 including an LED or the like.
[0117] The USB interface unit 1905 realizes an interface between the reader/writer main body 110 (or the control unit 1904) and USB. Furthermore, the USB interface unit 1905 includes a USB connector such as a USB Micro-B connector or a USB Mini-B connector.
[0118] E. Effects
[0119] Finally, effects brought by the present disclosure will be summarized.
[0120] A reader/writer device to which the present disclosure is applied includes a reader/writer main body that performs non-contact communication with an IC card, and a stand fitted to the reader/writer main body. The stand has a support function of supporting the reader/writer main body in a posture (for example, a posture inclined by approximately 3 degrees with respect to a setting surface) separated from the setting surface, and a card fixing function of fixing the IC card placed on the card reading surface of the reader/writer main body so that the IC card does not come off or fall from the card reading surface. The former support function prevents generation of eddy current in the setting surface including metal, and enables a good communication state to be maintained. Furthermore, since the stand alone has a plurality of functions, that is, the support function and the card fixing function, it is possible to realize a sense of unity in design as compared with the case of using two accessory parts, that is, a card holder and a stand.
[0121] According to the present disclosure, it is possible to attach and remove a connection cable such as a USB cable to and from the reader/writer main body with the stand fitted to the reader/writer main body. Furthermore, the reader/writer device configured by fitting the stand to the reader/writer main body is compact and easy to handle.
[0122] Since the stand used in the present disclosure includes a material softer than metal, such as urethane rubber or elastomer, the reader/writer main body can be mounted to the stand by single operation, and durability is improved even if the operation of mounting and detaching the reader/writer main body to and from the stand is repeated. Furthermore, since the stand is an elastic body, the stand has an anti-slip cushion function. In addition, when the stand is not in use (in other words, when the stand is not fitted to the reader/writer main body), the bundled USB cable can be sandwiched by the opening of the stand and stored.
[0123] Since the stand used in the present disclosure is a structural body including the opening having the U shape and the top plate portion is inclined by about 5 degrees, the reader/writer main body on which the IC card is placed can be held by pushing up the top plate portion. The stand has repeated durability, and the stand can easily store the bundled USB cable.
[0124] Furthermore, in the stand used in the present disclosure, the top plate portion can have a function of strengthening the force of holding the IC card and a function of locking the IC card at an appropriate location. Moreover, the stand can have a function of fixing the reader/writer main body to the stand.
