Abstract
A spill-resistant and moisture absorbing device comprises a lid, a cover having a wall with an opening and attachably connected to the lid, a tray having an upper side and an underside and attachably connected to the cover from an upper side of the tray, and a basin having a cavity for collection of brine and attachably connected from the underside of the tray. The tray comprises a holder for holding a tablet.
Claims
1. A device comprising: a lid; a cover having a wall with an opening and attachably connected to the lid; a tray having an upper side and an underside and attachably connected to the cover from an upper side of the tray; and a basin having a cavity for collection of brine and attachably connected from the underside of the tray; wherein the tray comprises a holder for holding a desiccant tablet.
2. The device according to claim 1, wherein the device is spill resistant or essentially no-spill.
3. The device according to claim 1, wherein the tray has a rim with an interlocking edge.
4. The device according to claim 1, wherein the interlocking edge is H-shaped having an inner leg, an outer leg, and a center segment connecting the inner leg to the outer leg.
5. The device according to claim 1, wherein a void space is formed by the H-shaped interlocking edge to engagingly receive an outer cover edge of the cover and an outer basin edge of the basin.
6. The device according to claim 1, wherein the tablet holder comprises a first section and a second section configured to receive a tablet of a geometrical shape.
7. The device according to claim 6, wherein the geometrical shape is circular or semicircular.
8. The device according to claim 1, wherein the tray comprises a fin.
9. The device according to claim 8, wherein the fin is located orthogonal to the tablet holder.
10. The device according to claim 8, wherein the fin has a vertical edge and a sloping edge.
11. The device according to claim 8, wherein the fms are present in a set.
12. The device according to claim 11, wherein a first set of fins is present on one side of the tablet holder and a second set of two fins is present on the opposing side of the tablet holder.
13. The device according to claim 8, wherein a fin is flush with the rim of the tray.
14. The device according to claim 8, wherein a fin is offset with the rim of the tray.
15. The device according to claim 1, wherein the tray further comprises a spout having a cavity.
16. The device according to claim 1, wherein the tray further comprises a first sloped partial floor and a second sloped partial floor.
17. The device according to claim 16, wherein the first sloped partial floor is connected to or formed continuously with an outer wall of the tray.
18. The device according to claim 16, wherein the second sloped partial floor is connected to or formed continuously with the interlocking edge of the tray.
19. The device according to claim 16, wherein the first sloped partial floor and second sloped partial floor are spaced apart by a vertical distance.
20. The device according, to claim 1, wherein the device further comprises a drainage port.
21. A tray comprising: a tablet holder having a first section having one or more ribs and a second section having one or more ribs, wherein the first section and the second section are located a distance apart from one another and are shaped having semicircular edges for the ribs of the first section and of the second section to receive a circular or semicircular tablet, and a fin located orthogonal to the tablet holder.
22. The tray according to claim 21, wherein the tray has a rim with an interlocking edge.
23. The tray according to claim 22, wherein the interlocking edge is H-shaped.
24. The tray according to claim 23, wherein a void space is formed by the H-shaped interlocking edge to engagingly receive an outer cover edge of the cover and an outer basin edge of the basin.
25. The tray according to claim 21, wherein the fin has a vertical edge and a sloping edge.
26. The tray according to claim 21, wherein the fin is flush with the rim of the tray.
27. The tray according to claim 21, wherein a fin is offset with the rim of the tray.
28. The tray according to claim 21, wherein the tray further comprises a spout having a cavity.
29. The tray according to claim 21, wherein the tray further comprises a first sloped partial floor and a second sloped partial floor.
30. The tray according to claim 29, wherein the first sloped partial floor is connected to or formed continuously with an outer wall of the tray.
31. The tray according to claim 29, wherein the second sloped partial floor is connected to or formed continuously with an interlocking edge of the tray.
32. The tray according to claim 29, wherein the first sloped partial floor and second sloped partial floor are spaced apart by a vertical distance.

[0056] Among the advantages of the device of the present invention are the following. The tray, which is preferably located in the middle of the device, permits the tablet to rest in a single location throughout the life of the tablet and maximizes the surface area of the tablet exposed to the environment leading to more effective moisture absorption. The device prevents the tablet from falling over onto the side of the interior wall which can lead to leaking on the outside of the device during operation. The tray has fins that are positioned and cut with a notch from the side wall which prevents leaking when the device is collecting humidity. The device also has a tight fit between the tray and the basin. The bevel of the edge prevents brine from leaking out of the device if the device is knocked over after the device has collected the brine.
[0057] It will therefore be readily understood by those persons skilled in the art that the present invention is susceptible of broad utility and application. Many embodiments and adaptations of the present invention other than those herein described, as well as many variations, modifications and equivalent arrangements, will be apparent from or reasonably suggested by the present invention and the foregoing description thereof, without departing from the substance or scope of the present invention.
