Abstract
An automatic swimming pool cleaner generally includes a body and one or more turbines. The one or more turbines may be positionable on a bottom portion of the automatic swimming pool cleaner. In certain aspects, each turbine of the one or more turbines includes a plurality of blades arranged around a center axis of the turbine. Each turbine of the one or more turbines may include a non-uniform height, and a maximum height of the plurality of blades is at the center axis.
Claims
1. A turbine positionable on a bottom portion of an automatic swimming pool cleaner (APC), the turbine comprising a plurality of blades arranged around a center axis of the turbine, and wherein the turbine comprises a non-uniform height and a maximum height of the plurality of blades is at the center axis.
2. The turbine of claim 1, wherein the turbine further comprises a shaft, a body comprising the plurality of blades at a first end of the shaft, and a gear at a second end of the shaft.
3. The turbine of claim 2, wherein the gear is a miter gear.
4. The turbine of claim 1, wherein the turbine comprises a domed profile.
5. The turbine of claim 1, wherein each blade extends outwards from the center axis and comprises a non-linear profile.
6. The turbine of claim 1, wherein each blade of the plurality of blades comprises a convex curvature.
7. The turbine of claim 1, further comprising a brush extension extending outwards from one blade of the plurality of blades.
8. The turbine of claim 7, wherein the brush extension is removable from the one blade of the plurality of blades.
9. An APC comprising the one or more turbines of claim 1.
10. An automatic swimming pool cleaner (APC) comprising: a body configured to travel along a surface of a pool to be cleaned, wherein the body comprises a wheel perimeter at an end of the body; and a turbine on a bottom portion of the body, wherein the turbine comprises a non-uniform height such that the turbine is within the wheel perimeter.
11. The APC of claim 10, further comprising two wheels, wherein each wheel is at an opposing end of the body and defines the wheel perimeter.
12. The APC of claim 10, wherein the turbine comprises a plurality of blades arranged around a center axis of the turbine, and wherein a maximum height of the plurality of blades is at the center axis.
13. The APC of claim 12, further comprising at least one brush extension extending outwards from at least one blade of the plurality of blades.
14. The APC of claim 10, wherein the turbine comprises a domed profile.
15. An automatic swimming pool cleaner (APC) comprising: a body configured to travel along a surface of a pool to be cleaned; a turbine on a bottom portion of the body, wherein the turbine comprises a plurality of blades with a non-uniform height and a maximum height of the plurality of blades is at a center axis of the turbine; and at least one brush extension extending outwards from at least one blade of the plurality of blades.
16. The APC of claim 15, further comprising a skirt attached to the body, wherein the skirt is movable between a closed position and an open position, wherein, in the open position, the skirt is configured to redirect water flow from the turbine.
17. The APC of claim 16, further comprising a wheel perimeter at an end of the body, wherein, in the open position, the skirt extends outside of the wheel perimeter.
18. The APC of claim 15, wherein the at least one brush extension is removable from the at least one blade of the plurality of blades.
19. The APC of claim 15, wherein the at least one brush extension is monolithic with the at least one blade of the plurality of blades.
20. The APC of claim 15, wherein the turbine comprises a domed profile.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0042] Described herein are improved APCs, and more particularly improved components of such APCs. Improved components described herein may include, but are not limited to, turbines (or scrubbers), drive assemblies for turbines, wheel assemblies, flow impeding flaps or skirts, and/or lid assemblies. Such components may provide compact and modular APCs that may provide improved cleaning while also being easily assembled or disassembled (e.g., for maintenance or repair) as desired. Various other benefits and advantages may be realized with the systems, devices, and methods provided herein, and the aforementioned advantages should not be considered limiting.

[0044] The body 102 of the APC 100 generally includes a first end 112, a second end 114, a front side 116, and a back side 118. In some embodiments, the body 102 may have a generally cylindrical profile or shape, although in other embodiments, the body 102 may have other shapes or profiles as desired.
