Abstract

A positive electrode active material and a preparation method thereof, a positive electrode plate, a battery, and an electric device. The positive electrode active material includes: Na.sub.xMn.sub.aFe.sub.bM.sub.cN.sub.dO.sub.2+eF.sub.e, where 0.5x1.1, a0, b0, c0, d>0, a+b +c+d=1, 0.10.1, and e0; M ions include at least one of Ni.sup.2+, Ni.sup.3+, Cu.sup.2+, Cu.sup.+, Zn.sup.2+, Mg.sup.2+, Y.sup.3+, La.sup.3+, In.sup.3+, Sb.sup.3+, Li+, Sn.sup.2+, and Ag.sup.+; B.sub.iI.sub.i.sup.41500 .sup.4, where B.sub.i is a molar fraction of cations, I.sub.i is an ionic potential of the cations, in unit of .sup.1, and the cations include manganese ions, iron ions, M ions, and N ions; and the ionic potential of the N ions is greater than or equal to 5 .sup.1.

Claims

1. A positive electrode active material, comprising: ##STR00003## wherein 0.5x1.1, a0, b0, c0, d>0, a+b+c+d=1, 0.10.1, and e0; M ions comprise at least one of Ni.sup.2+, Ni.sup.3+, Cu.sup.2+, Cu.sup.+, Zn.sup.2+, Mg.sup.2+, Y.sup.3+, La.sup.3+, In.sup.3+, Sb.sup.3+, Li.sup.+, Sn.sup.2+, and Ag.sup.+; B.sub.iI.sub.i.sup.41500 .sup.4, wherein B.sub.i is a molar fraction of cations, I.sub.i is an ionic potential of the cations, in unit of .sup.1, and the cations comprise manganese ions, iron ions, M ions, and N ions; and the ionic potential of the N ions is greater than or equal to 5 .sup.1.

2. The positive electrode active material according to claim 1, wherein 1500 .sup.4B.sub.iI.sub.i.sup.41900 .sup.4.

3. The positive electrode active material according to claim 1, wherein the N ions comprise at least one of B.sup.3+, Ti.sup.4+, Al.sup.3+, Si.sup.4+, Sn.sup.4+, Sb.sup.5+, Zr.sup.4+, and Nb.sup.5+, optionally, the N ions comprise at least one of B.sup.3+, Ti.sup.4+, Zr.sup.4+, and Al.sup.3+.

4. The positive electrode active material according to claim 1, wherein the M ions comprise at least one of Ni.sup.2+, Ni.sup.3+, Cu.sup.2+, Cu.sup.+, Zn.sup.2+, and Mg.sup.2+.

The positive electrode active material according to claim 1, wherein the positive electrode active material satisfies one or more of the following conditions: x satisfies 0.7x1, optionally 0.8x1; a satisfies 0.3a0.7, optionally 0.35a0.55; b satisfies 0.1b0.4, optionally 0.2b0.3; c satisfies 0.2c0.5, optionally 0.3c0.4; d satisfies 0.005d0.1, optionally 0.01d0.05; satisfies 0.0580.05, optionally 0.028 0.02; and e satisfies 0e0.01, optionally 0.001e0.005.

6. The positive electrode active material according to claim 1, wherein 0.005d/(a+b+c)0.1, optionally 0.01d/(a+b+c)0.05.

7. The positive electrode active material according to claim 1, wherein a phase of the positive electrode active material comprises an O3 phase, a space group comprises R3m, and an interlayer spacing ranges from 0.53 nm to 0.54 nm.

8. The positive electrode active material according to claim 1, wherein the positive electrode active material satisfies one or more of the following conditions: D.sub.v50 of the positive electrode active material ranges from 2 m to 30 m, optionally from 4 m to 12 m; a specific surface area of the positive electrode active material ranges from 0.1 m.sup.2/g to 2 m.sup.2/g, optionally from 0.3 m.sup.2/g to 1 m.sup.2/g; and a compacted density of the positive electrode active material under 300 MPa pressure ranges from 3 g/cm.sup.3 to 5 g/cm.sup.3, optionally from 3 g/cm.sup.3 to 4 g/cm.sup.3.

9. A method for preparing the positive electrode active material according to claim 1, comprising: mixing an Na source, an Fe source, an Mn source, an M source, and an N source to obtain a precursor; and calcining the precursor to obtain the positive electrode active material.

10. A method for preparing the positive electrode active material according to claim 1, comprising: mixing an Fe source, an Mn source, an M source, and an N source with water to obtain a mixed solution; reacting the mixed solution with a precipitant to obtain a precursor; and mixing and calcining the precursor with an Na source to obtain the positive electrode active material.

11. A positive electrode plate, wherein the positive electrode plate comprises the positive electrode active material according to claim 1.

12. A battery, wherein the battery comprises the positive electrode plate according to claim 11.

13. An electric device, comprising the battery according to claim 12.

Compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries have a significant price advantage and a wide application prospect in large-scale energy storage systems.

[0048] Layered metal oxides, due to their high conductivity, high energy density, large capacity, and long cycle life, have become one of the popular positive electrode active materials for sodium-ion batteries. Before charging and discharging of a battery, layered metal oxides have a high sodium content, with positively charged sodium ions between oxygen atoms shielding the negative electrostatic repulsion between oxygen atoms. As the first charge proceeds, the deintercalation of sodium ions from a surface of the layered metal oxide and the increase in negative electrostatic repulsion between oxygen atoms, cause irreversible structural changes in the layered metal oxide, reducing the sodium intercalation sites, and leading to a decrease in the initial coulombic efficiency of the battery. Additionally, as the negative electrostatic repulsion between oxygen atoms in the layered metal oxide increases, the local structure thereof becomes unstable, making it prone to reconstruction into new phases such as a rock-salt phase or a spinel phase. Additionally, after the reduction of sodium ions, the activity of oxygen increases, making it prone to side reactions with an electrolyte, leading to the loss of cations and oxygen ions and the formation of cracks, thereby reducing the cycling performance of the battery.

[0049] In the present application, the positive electrode active material includes N ions with an ionic potential greater than or equal to 5 .sup.1, and the manganese ions, iron ions, M ions, and N ions satisfy B.sub.iI.sub.i.sup.41500 .sup.4. The resulting positive electrode active material exhibits strong covalent bonding between cations and oxygen, with strong interactions, effectively stabilizing structural changes of the positive electrode active material during deintercalation of sodium, thereby improving the initial coulombic efficiency of the battery. EXAMPLE 1

Preparation of NaNi.SUB.0.24.Fe.SUB.0.26.Mn.SUB.0.39.Mg.SUB.0.1.Si.SUB.0.01.O.SUB.2

The obtained sample was pre-ground in an agate mortar and then ball-milled in a planetary ball mill for 1 h to obtain a precursor mixture. The precursor mixture was then evenly placed in an open crucible, and subsequently heated in a muffle furnace at a rate of 5 C./min from room temperature to 950 C., held at 950 C. for 15 h, and naturally cooled to obtain a positive electrode active material NaNi.sub.0.24Fe.sub.0.26Mn.sub.0.39Mg.sub.0.1Si.sub.0.01O.sub.2.

Preparation of Positive Electrode Plate

[0147] The phase, the space group, the interlayer spacing of the positive electrode active materials, and the initial coulombic efficiency and cycling performance of the resulting button cells in Examples 1 to 20 and Comparative Examples 1 to 4 were characterized, with the results shown in Table 3.

Test Methods

(1) Test for phase, interlayer spacing d.sub.003 of 003 crystal plane, and space group of positive electrode active material:

[0148] In a dry room or glove box, a sample to be tested was finely ground in an agate mortar and passed through a 350-mesh sieve, an appropriate amount of the sieved sample was taken and placed in the center of the groove of a sample holder, ensuring the loose sample powder was slightly higher than the plane of the sample holder; the surface of the sample was lightly pressed with a glass slide to level surface of the sample flush with the plane of a frame, and excess powder was scraped off. After sample preparation, testing was performed using a Bruker D8A_A25 X-ray powder diffractometer from Bruker AXS GmbH, with CuK.sub. radiation as a source, a wavelength of =1.5406 , a 2 scanning angle range of 5 to 60, and a scanning rate of 4/min. After testing, through the angle corresponding to the 003 crystal plane, the interlayer spacing d.sub.003 of the 003 crystal plane was obtained based on the Bragg equation 2d.Math.sin= and each unit cell of the 003 crystal plane including three transition metal layers. The space group of the sample was confirmed by comparing the XRD diffraction peaks of the sample with standard cards in XRD analysis software, and a characteristic peak in an XRD pattern within the range of 40.5 to 42.5 indicated that the positive electrode active material was in the O3 phase.

(2) First-Cycle Coulombic Efficiency Test of Button Cell

[0149] At 25 C., a button cell was charged at a constant current density of 10 mA/g to 4.3 V to obtain the charge specific capacity C.sub.0 of the button cell, then discharged at a constant current density of 10 mA/g to 1.5 V to obtain the discharge specific capacity C.sub.1 of the button cell. The first-cycle coulombic efficiency of the battery=C.sub.1/C.sub.0100%.

(3) Cycling Performance Testing

[0150] At 25 C., the button cell was charged at a constant current density of 10 mA/g to 4.2 V, then discharged at a constant current density of 10 mA/g to 1.5 V to obtain the discharge specific capacity C.sub.2 of the button cell, followed by 50 cycles of constant current charge-discharge at 10 mA/g, and the discharge specific capacity C.sub.3 of the 50th cycle was taken. The capacity retention rate after 50 cycles=C.sub.2/C.sub.3100%.

[0151] FIG. 6 is a comparison diagram of the charge-discharge curves of the button cells prepared in Example 1 and Comparative Example 1 at 10 mA/g for the first cycle. It can be seen from the figure that the first-cycle coulombic efficiency of the button cell in Example 1 is 98%, while the first-cycle coulombic efficiency of the button cell in Comparative Example 1 is 81%, indicating that the first-cycle coulombic efficiency of the button cell in Example 1 is obviously higher than that in Comparative Example 1.

[0152] FIG. 7 is a comparison diagram of the capacity retention rates of the button cells prepared in Example 1 and Comparative Example 1. It can be seen from the figure that the capacity retention rate of the battery in Example 1 after 50 cycles is significantly better than the capacity retention rate in Comparative Example 1.

[0153] Conclusion: From the data in Table 3, it can be seen that the first-cycle coulombic efficiency and the capacity retention rate after 50 cycles of the batteries in Examples 1 to 20 are significantly higher than those of the batteries in Comparative Examples 1 to 4. This indicates that the positive electrode active material of the present application including N ions with an ionic potential greater than or equal to 5 .sup.1 and the manganese ions, iron ions, M ions, and N ions satisfying B.sub.iI.sub.i.sup.41500 .sup.4 can improve the first-cycle coulombic efficiency and cycling performance of the battery.
