Automated smear making apparatus
An automated smear making apparatus used to prepare and smear samples on glass slides. In one embodiment, there is provided a smearing subsystem that generally includes a smear cartridge having: an input reel; at least one roll bar; a take-up reel; and a smearing tape. The smearing tape is initially wound within the input reel and coupled to the take-up reel such that the smearing tape can be drawn from the input reel and into the take-up reel. The smearing tape may include a plurality of perforations formed therein. The smearing tape may then be wrapped around the roll bar such that each of the plurality of perforations forms a blade that extends from the smearing tape to expose a smear surface as the smearing tape is drawn into the take-up reel. Alternatively, the smearing tape may be bent such that an edge of the smearing tape forms a smear surface between two roll bars. A slide transport surface is also provided to move a slide across the smear surface.

Brake system and method for controlling a brake system
A brake system for a vehicle having a master brake cylinder, which provides a pressure signal, having a brake-medium reservoir connected to the master brake cylinder, and a first brake circuit, which is coupled by a first input to the master brake cylinder and by a second input to the brake-medium reservoir, and having at least one first wheel-brake cylinder, which is mounted at a first wheel, in order to exert a force corresponding to the pressure signal onto the first wheel, and having a separator valve, which is configured between the first input and the first wheel-brake cylinder, to prevent further transmission of the pressure signal upon receipt of a supplied closing signal; and having a control valve, which is configured between the first input and the first wheel-brake cylinder; in order to control an inflow of a brake medium from brake-medium reservoir to the first wheel-brake cylinder. In addition, a method for controlling a corresponding brake system is also described.
METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING FAULT IN A VACUUM SYSTEM INCLUDING A CHECK VALVE
A method for fault diagnosis of a vacuum system having a vacuum source and a vacuum consumer connected to the vacuum source via a connecting line with a non-return valve disposed in the connecting line upstream of the vacuum source. The method including indirectly determining a vacuum in the vacuum consumer based on an estimated vacuum value. Providing a flow sensor, using the flow sensor to measure a flow in the connecting line and drawing a conclusion regarding a defect based on the estimated vacuum value and the flow. An exemplary embodiment may also include a combined check valve and flow sensor.

Valve device adaptable for brake control of a variety of pressure medium-operated vehicle brake systems
A valve device for brake control of a different pressure medium-operated vehicle brake systems comprises a housing that has pressure medium ducts. A relay valve provides a pneumatic control pressure, which is fed to the relay valve via at least one of the pressure medium ducts at a higher flow rate. At least one insert is pneumatically connected to at least two of the pressure medium ducts, which can be pneumatically connected to each other by the insert. The two pressure medium ducts define a pressure medium path, the profile of which differs based on the housing that is in each case selected and/or switched based on the selected insert. The housing is selected from a set of housings having different pressure medium ducts, in particular bores, but which are otherwise essentially similar. The insert is selected from a set of different inserts.
