The present invention provides: a water-soluble film that is superior in cold water solubility and in practical properties such as strength and stiffness and that can resist deterioration in various properties such as chemical resistance over time; and a modified polyvinyl alcohol used for the water-soluble film. The present invention relates to a modified polyvinyl alcohol containing 0.05 to 10 mol % of a monomer unit having two carboxyl groups. In .sup.1H-NMR spectroscopy of the modified polyvinyl alcohol, an integral (X) from 6.8 to 7.2 ppm and an integral (Y) from 5.3 to 5.5 ppm satisfy the following expression:
0.60X/(X+Y)<1.0.

HIGH-WEIGHT GLYCERIDE OLIGOMERS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

Oligomers of certain glyceride compounds are generally disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the glyceride compounds include natural oil glycerides, such as glycerides derived from natural oils, such as palm oil, soybean oil, canola oil, and the like. Compositions containing such glyceride oligomers are also disclosed herein. Processes for making such glyceride oligomers are also disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the processes for making such compounds include reacting a plurality of unsaturated glyceride compounds in the presence of a metathesis catalyst.

HIGH-WEIGHT GLYCERIDE OLIGOMERS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

A resin composition is provided, which includes 1 part by weight of (a) thermally conductive resin with a biphenyl group, 1.0 to 10.0 parts by weight of (b) polyphenylene oxide, 0.01 to 5.0 parts by weight of (c) hardener, and 0.1 to 5.0 parts by weight of (d) inorganic filler. OPTICAL COMPONENT

Provided is an optical component comprising a methacrylic resin composition having excellent surface processability and displaying excellent preservability of formed surface processing. The optical component contain a methacrylic resin including a structural unit (X) having a cyclic structure-containing main chain that is at least one selected from the group consisting of an N-substituted maleimide monomer-derived structural unit, a glutarimide-based structural unit, and a lactone ring structural unit. The methacrylic resin composition has a Vicat softening temperature of 120 C. to 160 C. Among methacrylic acid ester monomer-derived structural units, a ratio (S/H) of the integrated intensity (S) of a syndiotactic fraction (rr) relative to the integrated intensity (H) of a heterotactic fraction (mr), as determined by .sup.1H-NMR measurement, is 1.20 to 1.50. The amount of methanol-soluble content is 5 mass % or less relative to 100 mass %, in total, of methanol-soluble content and methanol-insoluble content.
