DOWNHOLE PRESSURE WAVE GENERATING DEVICE
A device for generating pressure waves in a well or a wellbore is described. The device includes a housing containing an impact-generating mechanism for generating the pressure waves and a connector for connecting the housing to a conveyor for transporting the device to any desired location within the well or the wellbore. The device may be used for a number of downhole applications such as cleaning perforations, fracturing processes, vibration of a casing to prevent fluid flow in a cemented annulus, hydraulic jar operations for freeing stuck downhole objects, generating data to optimize pumping parameters and as an enhancement to percussion drilling techniques.
Obtaining inelastic spectra free of detector born gamma rays induced by neutrons
In an embodiment, a method includes receiving a first measurement of gamma rays via a detector during a first period of time, receiving a second measurement of gamma rays via the detector during a second period of time, removing the second measurement from the first measurement to produce an inelastic spectrum, determining a spectral slope from the inelastic spectrum, determining a scaling factor based on the spectral slope, determining a spectral shape associated with the detector, determining a detector-induced spectrum by applying the scaling factor to the spectral shape, and removing the detector-induced spectrum from the inelastic spectrum to produce a clean inelastic spectrum.
PERCUSSION DRILLING APPARATUS AND TORQUE TRANSFER METHOD
A drill rod for transferring torque comprises a casing for connection in a drill string. The casing is coupled to an internal body by a torque transferring mechanism at each end of the casing such that torque applied to an end of the drill rod is transferred through both of the casing and the body.
Mandrel and a method for soil compaction
A method and a mandrel for forming a cavity at a target location. The mandrel may include a main drilling shaft, a plurality of T-shaped elements, a hollow-cylindrical-shaped element, and a plurality of parallelepiped-shaped stiffener plates. The main drilling shaft may include a hammer insertion part positioned at a first end of the main drilling shaft, a bore head positioned at a second end of the main drilling shaft, and a medium part positioned between the hammer insertion part and the bore head. The plurality of T-shaped elements may be mounted adjacently around the medium part in a way such that forming a closed octagonal from a top-view of the mandrel. A first size of a first cross-section at a first location from a top-view of the plurality of T-shaped elements around the medium part may be larger than a second size of a second cross-section at a second location from the top-view.
Steerable mole boring system
A directional boring system includes a hammerhead mole that is fluidly coupled to a power source. The hammerhead mole selectively bores underground in a selected direction. A steering unit is movably coupled to the hammerhead mole and the steering unit frictionally engages the ground at a selected angle. In this way the hammerhead mole is steered in the selected angle. A remote control is provided and the remote control is in wireless electrical communication with the steering unit. In this way the remote control controls movement of the hammerhead mole.
Percussion boring device
A percussion boring device with an impact piston is mounted within a housing and driven in a cyclic back and forth movement. In a first switch position, the impact piston strikes a front impact surface, in order to drive the percussion boring device in a first movement direction, and, in a second switch position, the impact piston strikes a rear impact surface, in order to drive the percussion boring device in a second movement direction. For the reversal of the movement directions, a guide tube fixed to the housing, and a control sleeve which can be axially shifted on the guide tube, are provided, and the impact piston can be axially shifted on the control sleeve. The control sleeve includes two sections which are connected to one another by a movable connection.
INSTALLING PIPELINE SEGMENTS WITHIN A CONDUIT
A method for installing pipeline segments within a conduit. The method includes a step of securing a first pipe segment of the pipeline segments at a top end of the conduit, a step of aligning a main axis of a second pipe segment of the pipeline segments with the main axis of the pipeline, a step of lifting the second pipe segment from a first position associated with a bottom end of the conduit to a second position adjacent to the first pipe segment, a step of abutting a top rim of the second pipe segment against a bottom rim of the first pipe segment, and a step of attaching the top rim of the second pipe segment to the bottom rim of the first pipe segment.
PERCUSSION DRILLING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MEASUREMENT WHILE DRILLING
A measurement tool for use in pneumatic percussion drilling comprises a body comprising one or more measuring instruments positioned in a drill string above a pneumatically operated hammer of the drill string.
SHOULDER PROTECTED DRILLING ASSEMBLY
A drilling assembly for percussive drilling includes at least two of a drill bit, a drill rod and a guide adapter. A peripheral surface of the shoulder on the drill rod is at least partially encased in both radial and axial directions inside the mounting sleeve of the drill bit or the mounting sleeve of the guide adapter, and/or the peripheral surface of the shoulder on the guide adapter is at least partially encased in both radial and axial directions inside the mounting sleeve of the drill bit.
