Degradable extrusion resistant compositions and articles of manufacture

A degradable polymer composition comprises a polyurethane comprising ester groups in a backbone of the polyurethane and carboxylic acid groups attached to the backbone of the polyurethane; and a filler comprising one or more of the following: a powder comprising particles having an average particle size of about 5 microns to about 500 microns; or a fiber having an average length of about inch to about 5 inches. Also disclosed are articles comprising the composition. A method to degrade the article includes exposing the article to a fluid at a temperature of about 25 C. to about 300 C.

Method and apparatus for well abandonment

Systems and methods facilitate and automate well abandonment procedures. In an embodiment, well field data for a plurality of wells is categorized into well types. An inspection set of wells, including wells of each type, is determined from the entire plurality of wells. Inspection data is collected for each well type, including environmental, regulatory, and well condition data. The inspection data is extrapolated onto wells with similar types for the entire filed and analyzed. The analysis may include determining an optimal sequence of well abandonment activities, and an estimate of costs for abandoning each well, all wells of each type, and the entire well field. In an embodiment, a risk assessment analysis is performed and may include an analysis of factors that may change the cost of abandoning the well field or a sequence of well abandonment activities.

A device and method are provided for mitigating annular pressure buildup in a wellbore casing annulus of an oil or gas well. The device includes a tubular member including an outer side, a chamber secured around the outer side, the chamber having at least one flexible portion for varying the internal volume of the chamber, at least one reservoir capable of supplying a gas, and a pressure compensator connecting the reservoir and the chamber. The reservoir is able to feed the chamber volume with the gas via the pressure compensator.

Pitless unit with non-corrosive material on wetted surfaces

There is disclosed a connector which is sometimes referred to as a pitless unit in industry for use in a pumping system including a pump, well casing, a discharge pipe to guide liquid horizontally away from the pump, and a drop pipe to guide the liquid up from the pump towards the discharge pipe. The connector acts to connect the drop pipe and discharge pipe in fluidic communication while allowing the pump there beneath to be accessed from the surface of the ground. The connector features an outer housing and internal spool which is locatable in the housing in a seated position. An interior surface of the housing and surfaces of the spool which collectively define a chamber through which the liquid flows, when the spool is in the seated position, are weld cladded with a metallic cladding material so as to resist corrosion and erosion of these wetted surfaces of the connector.

A wellhead vault for preventing alteration of the wellhead of a water supply. The vault is a heavy bell-shaped structure, formed of concrete, and having a downwardly facing concavity, and the vault placed over, with the concavity around the wellhead. The vaults too heavy to be removed by human lifting. Lifting elements are provided to allow the vault to be installed and removed by heavy construction equipment. The vault has a vent that communicates between the concavity and the outside, allowing air, but not liquid, liquid or solid contaminants, or animals, to pass through.

METHOD OF PRODUCING RESIN COMPOSITE WITH REQUIRED THERMAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES TO FORM A DURABLE WELL SEAL IN APPLICATIONS

Provided herein are methods of formulating a sealant to span an opening and form a seal with surfaces across the opening including selecting a fluid material capable of contacting and adhering to the surface of the opening and which reacts to form a solid material as a result of a thermal reaction, and selecting and intermixing one or more solids with the fluid material to form a composite, wherein the composite cures from a fluid to a solid and bond to the surfaces of the opening and the change in volume of the composite as the temperature thereof changes during curing is insufficient to cause it to pull away from the surfaces of the opening or fail internally.
