HIGH-TEMPERATURE SEAL HAVING A CLAMPING PROFILE
A seal for sealing a gap in a combustion arrangement of a gas turbine. The seal is formed by a L-shaped angle profile and a clamping profile. Both profiles have on the opposite side an engagement flank for fastening in a sealing groove and a sealing flank bearing against one another. The clamping profile further includes a holding portion, which is located opposite the associated sealing flank and also bears against the sealing flank of the angle profile, and a clamping portion connecting the sealing flank to the holding portion.
SEAL FOR COMBUSTION APPARATUS
A seal for sealing a gap in a combustion apparatus of a gas turbine between a first side and an opposite second side. The seal includes a steel strap with a flat shape and a first metal web with a flat shape attached to the steel strap on the first side and a second metal web attached to the steel strap on the second side. Thereby the seal has a seal thickness with at least the steel strap plus the first metal web plus the thickness of the second metal web, wherein the seal thickness is at most 0.2-times of width of the seal. The new seal has an Omega shape of the second metal web, which is therefore attached on both sides with a flat shaped portion to the steel strap.
THROUGH THICKNESS REINFORCEMENT
A method for making a ceramic matrix composite component includes densifying a fibrous preform of the component with a ceramic matrix to form an intermediate component; infiltrating a hole in the intermediate component with an infiltrate material comprising a solid and a metallic alloy whose reaction forms a carbide, silicide, boride or combination thereof, heating the infiltrate material to a temperature in excess of a melting point of the metallic alloy; and sequentially cooling regions of the hole starting from an interior end of the hole to the outer surface of the intermediate component to form a solidified through-thickness reinforcement element. The hole extends in a through-thickness direction and is open to an exterior surface of the intermediate component.
THROUGH THICKNESS REINFORCEMENT

TURBINE ENGINE WITH A ROTOR SEAL ASSEMBLY
A turbine engine comprising an engine core having at least a compressor section, a combustor section, and a turbine section in axial flow arrangement defining an axial direction and an engine centerline. The turbine engine further having a rotor and a stator, a carriage assembly carried by the stator, and a seal assembly biased toward the rotor.
PILOTED SEALING FEATURES FOR POWER TURBINE
In a gas turbine engine, coolant (e.g., cooling air) is prone to leak out of the interface between the combustor case, the nozzle of the turbine, and the exhaust diffuser. Embodiments of an interface are disclosed that provide non-fretting sealing using an interference fit between radially facing surfaces of a combustor flange and diffuser flange. In addition, one or more contact sealing lands may be used between the combustor flange and diffuser flange and one or more seals may be provided between various components of the interface to provide additional sealing.
Ceramic matrix composite-based seal
A seal includes a ceramic matrix composite ply having woven ceramic-based fibers in a ceramic-based matrix. The ceramic matrix composite ply has at least one bend formed about a bend axis and defines at least one rounded portion. A sealed assembly and a method of making a seal are also disclosed.
Seal element for sealing a joint between a rotor blade and a rotor disk
A rotor assembly is provided for a piece of rotational equipment. This rotor assembly includes a rotor disk, a rotor blade and a seal element. The rotor disk is configured to rotate about a rotational axis. The rotor blade includes an airfoil, a platform and a mount attaching the rotor blade to the rotor disk. The seal element is seated in a groove of the rotor disk. The seal element is configured to sealingly engage the platform and the mount.
Turbine shroud sector with cooled sealing strips
A turbine shroud sector made of ceramic matrix composite, of longitudinal axis X and which includes a base with a radially internal face, a radially external face from which there extend upstream and downstream tabs for attachment to a shroud support structure. The base includes a first slot and a second slot, which is arranged radially on the outside of the first slot. The slots are formed in the lateral face. A first and a second sealing strip rest against a radially internal wall of the first and second slots. The first strip has the overall shape of an omega and the shroud sector exhibits a first clearance which is defined radially between a central part of the first strip and the radially internal wall of the first slot, and a second clearance which is defined radially between this central part and a radially external wall of the first slot.
Blade assembly for gas turbine engine
A blade assembly for a gas turbine engine includes a rotor, a stator, a seal plate, and a sealing member. The rotor includes a rotor blade and a rotor disc. The rotor disc defines a bucket groove which receives a cooling fluid from a first cavity upstream of the rotor. The sealing member includes a control arm. The sealing member and the rotor define a flow cavity therebetween in fluid communication with an aperture of the seal plate. The flow cavity receives the cooling fluid flowing through the bucket groove and the aperture. The control arm and the seal plate define a gap therebetween fluidly communicating the flow cavity with a second cavity between the stator and the rotor. The control arm deflects at least a portion of the cooling fluid entering the flow cavity.
