A camshaft includes, as a cam that opens and closes an exhaust valve and an intake valve, a ball cam whose protrusion amount changes according to rotation of the camshaft, wherein the camshaft has a double structure consisting of an inner shaft and an outer shaft provided in a manner that the inner shaft is helically displaced with respect to the outer shaft around an axis of the camshaft according to a rotation speed of the camshaft, and the ball cam is accommodated movably in a guide groove provided in the inner shaft and protrudes from the outer shaft, and a protrusion amount of the ball cam from the outer shaft changes when the ball cam moves in the guide groove due to the helical displacement of the inner shaft with respect to the outer shaft.

Balanced bridge bleeder brake with HLA

A valvetrain assembly configured to selectively perform a bleeder brake operation includes a rocker arm configured to rotate about a rocker shaft, a camshaft having a lobe configured to impart motion to the rocker arm through a pushrod, and a valve bridge assembly operably associated with the rocker arm and configured to be selectively engaged by the rocker arm to open at least one of a first and second engine valve. An engine brake capsule is operably associated with the valve bridge assembly and configured to operate in a drive mode where the engine brake capsule does not cause the valve bridge assembly to open the first or second engine valves, and a brake mode where the engine brake capsule engages the valve bridge assembly to partially open the first engine valve to perform the bleeder brake operation.

TRANSMISSION CONTROL WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION

A method for controlling a transmission of a vehicle during cylinder deactivation can comprise receiving and processing a zero or negative torque requirement for the vehicle. Receiving and processing vehicle speed data can be included to determine a vehicle speed for the vehicle. A cylinder deactivation mode can be implemented for a valvetrain of a multi-cylinder engine of the vehicle, wherein the cylinder deactivation mode comprises deactivating one or more intake valve, one or more exhaust valve, and fuel injection for one or more cylinder of the multi-cylinder engine. Selecting one of an in-gear mode and a neutral mode for a transmission of the vehicle can be included while implementing the cylinder deactivation mode and while maintaining the determined vehicle speed.

INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE SYSTEM
20220154604 · 2022-05-19 · ·

An internal combustion engine system, includes a two-stroke piston machine having a cylinder for accommodating a reciprocating piston, and further at least one valve for regulating a flow of fluid medium; the ICE system further comprising a rotatable crankshaft for operating the reciprocating piston. The rotatable crankshaft comprises an integrated cam lobe arranged to operate the at least one valve of the two-stroke piston machine.

Roller tappet for a fuel pump

A roller tappet for a fuel pump is provided that has a guide housing which includes a drive-side and output-side section of the same external diameter, and a separate support body extending longitudinally through the guide housing. An upper face on the drive-side section carries a pin with a roller thereon. A lower face of the output-side section interacts at least indirectly with an arrangement for a pump piston. The drive-side section and the output-side section are axially spaced rings connected to one another via the support body. The support body has a first ring area with the upper face and a second ring area with the lower face. The first ring area is connected to an inner jacket of the drive-side section and the second ring area is connected to an inner jacket of the output-side section.

LOST MOTION VARIABLE VALVE ACTUATION SYSTEMS AND METHOD

A compact, modular, lost motion variable valve actuation assembly includes a dry start hydraulic circuit to enable quick priming of a lost motion master-slave circuit from a dry start reservoir to the master piston chamber during engine start. Motion of the master piston on engine startup may draw in fluid from the dry start hydraulic circuit. The dry start components may be integrated into a compact modular rocker shaft pedestal package suitable for retrofit on existing engine head assemblies. The master piston may include a push tube interface that includes a deep push tube cavity and lubrication capabilities in the master piston that provides for improved wear, stability, easy installation and alignment. The slave piston may be provided with a valve catch to reduce valve closing velocity during cycles involving lost-motion.

CASTELLATION DEVICE, MECHANICAL CAPSULE, AND ROCKER ARM

A castellation device comprises a shaft surrounded by three castellation members. A first castellation member is rotatably mounted on the shaft and comprises a first end and a second end opposite to the first end. A second castellation member is slidably mounted along the shaft adjacent the first end of the first castellation member. A third castellation member is mounted to the shaft adjacent the second end of the first castellation member. A bias spring is disposed between the second castellation member and the third castellation member and is configured to bias the second castellation member away from the third castellation member. Optionally, an annular shroud can enclose the three castellation members. The first castellation member is rotatable relative to the second and third castellation members between a first position and a second position.

System for deactivating engine cylinders

Systems and methods for operating an engine with deactivating and non-deactivating valves is presented. In one example, the engine may include non-deactivating intake valves, deactivating intake valves, and only non-deactivating exhaust valves. The non-deactivating exhaust valves may operate to open and close during an engine cycle while deactivating intake valves remain closed during the engine cycle to prevent air flow through selected engine cylinders.
