SYSTEM FOR SAMPLING SEDIMENT ON A BOTTOM OF A LIQUID MEDIUM
System for removing sediments from a bed of a liquid environment such as a harbor or a pond, characterized in that it comprises a conduit (30), the lower extremity of which forms a moving suction mouth (31) that is to be placed substantially at the level of the bed, and the upper extremity of which leads into the open air so that said mouth (31) is under atmospheric pressure, said system comprising means for carrying out a local stirring operation (41, 42, 43, 44, 53) within said mouth and discharging means (50, 51, 52) connecting said mouth (31) to the surface of said liquid environment, in which these sediments circulate.
System and method for packaging an absorbent for solidification of liquid medical waste
The invention includes a system and method for delivery and storage of an absorbent for solidification of liquid waste. The system includes a plurality of nestable containers configured to receive aqueous liquid to be solidified and forming a packet safe space when nested one within another. The system also includes a plurality of packets at least partially soluble in the aqueous liquid to be solidified. The containers include at least one packet and each packet contains a solidifier for use as an absorbent composition for the aqueous liquid to be solidified. A packet may be housed within the containers inside a packet safe space. The invention also includes an improved system and method for packaging a solidifier for solidification of liquid medical wastes.
One part, solids containing decontamination blend composition
A one part, solids containing decontamination blend composition comprises a solid acetyl donor coated with a compound that protects it from hydrolysis, a peroxygen source, optionally a catalyst, optionally a surfactant, and optionally a buffer. The decontamination blend composition is generally in a dry powder, particle, etc. form or in a tablet, pill, etc. form and is complete in and of itself in that no additional compounds are required prior to use and is readily distributed as a one package system. Upon the addition of water, a peroxygen compound such as hydrogen peroxide is formed, and peracetic acid is generated under alkaline conditions. The decontamination blend composition is particularly suitable for oxidizing various chemical and biological compounds thereby eradicating the same in situ as on surfaces, clothes, articles, and the like. Representative contaminants include mustard gas, nerve gas, bacterial toxins, anthrax, bird flu, and the like.
In-feed hopper and meter for carbon-based feedstock processing system
A meter for controlling the flow of feedstock from an in-feed hopper to a distillation unit, including a cylindrical roller having a first end, a second end, and an outer diameter, the roller defining a recess that extends helically substantially from the first end to the second end, a sleeve circumscribing a portion of the outer diameter of the cylindrical roller, the sleeve having an open first side that allows the passage of feedstock into the recess of the roller, and an open second side that allows the passage of feedstock out of the recess of the roller as the roller rotates relative to the sleeve, and a housing fixedly attached to the sleeve and capable of attachment to the in-feed hopper and the distillation unit such that feedstock must pass through the housing to get from the in-feed hopper to the distillation unit.
Abuse potential reduction in abusable substance dosage form
The potential for substance abuse involving residual amounts of abusable substances remaining in used skin-worn patches is reduced by the provision of a system and method for combining the abusable substance with a separate anti-abuse substance agent as part of a removal or disposal procedure.

Provided is an optical material composition which makes it possible to design an optical material exhibiting a broad range of properties. This optical material composition contains a compound (A) represented by formula (1), 1,2,3,5,6-pentathiepane (b), and if necessary, a compound (B) represented by formula (2). The content of the compound (B) constitutes 0-30 mass % of the total mass of the composition: ##STR00001##
(In the formula, n m represents an integer which is 0-4, and n represents an integer which is 0-2).
Antimicrobial composition having efficacy against endospores
A sporicidal composition has a moderately low pH and includes at least one oxidizing acid and the dissociation product of at least one inorganic oxidizing agent. Very high effective solute concentrations can enhance the efficacy of the composition. Embodiments of the composition can be applied to a surface and allowed to absorb into the endospore, ultimately killing at least some of those bacteria in mature endospore form. The surface being treated can be an inanimate surface, particularly a hard surface, or a medical device.
