METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING A POST-PRINT PROCESSING SYSTEM
A method and apparatus for controlling a post-print processing system for producing printed products. The system comprises a plurality of replaceable individual devices which are arranged one after another in a row and/or parallel and are connected to a joint control unit for adapting the system to successively following different production orders. The method includes supplying the joint control unit with information relating to the type and position of the individual devices in the post-print processing system and activating the individual devices based on the information. The information relating to the position of the individual devices is determined in the post-print processing system based on the position of the individual devices in a first data processing network comprising a ring circuit. The individual devices send out a data telegram corresponding to the position of the respective individual devices via a second data processing network to the joint control unit.

Sheet stacking device
A sheet stacking device includes a vacuum system that delivers an individual sheet toward a binder element, a sheet deflector element that presses an end of the individual sheet onto the binder element, and a sheet kick-down element that presses the individual sheet away from the vacuum system.
Thread sewing machine
A method for operating a thread sewing machine to process printed sheets to form book blocks includes transporting the printed sheets lying astride a first transport section of a transport system. The first transport section is operated by a conveying mechanism. The conveying mechanism is operated with a speed change that depends on a direct sequence of different sheet lengths of the printed sheets. The printed sheets are fed from the first transport section to a second transport section of the transport system. The second transport section is operated by a conveying device having at least one of a controller and an operative connection to a stop so as to ensure an individual positioning of a sub-format printed sheet relative to a standard-format printed sheet. The printed sheets are fed from the second transport system to a downstream sewing station.

Techniques for creasing a cover of a case
Techniques for creasing a cover of a case are described herein. In an example, a creasing tool includes a first plate portion and a second plate portion substantially parallel to the first plate portion such that the first plate portion and the second plate portion define a slot between the first plate portion and the second plate portion for creasing a cover of a case.
Sheet processing apparatus and image forming apparatus
There is provided a sheet processing apparatus with improved visibility of a sheet bundle discharged without post-processing thereto. The CPU circuit receives the conveyed sheet, drives and controls the sheet-returning paddle, the rack part, the rear end regulation part, the alignment plate and the like and forms sheet bundle comprising of a plural number of sheets as received. Further, the CPU circuit drives and controls the alignment plate when discharging the sheet bundle S from the processing tray, the sheet bundle S exceeding the number of sheets which can be post-processed by the stapler. Therefore, the sheet bundle S which includes sheets equal to the allowable number of sheets for post-processing of the sheet processing unit is discharged to the second discharge position which is different from the first discharge position.
