The guide surface 50 includes at least a first guide portion 50(H) defining a first discharge direction of the scavenging gas and a second guide portion 50(L) defining a second discharge direction of the scavenging gas. The discharge direction of the scavenging gas is changed from the first discharge direction to the second discharge direction on the horizontal plane by the first and second guide portions 50(H) and 50(L) in the scavenging stroke.

Apparatus to convert linear motion to rotary motion

An apparatus to convert linear motion to rotary motion comprising a linear reciprocating member including a track drive member to be coupled to an input device and a rotatable track member including a track to be coupled to an output device wherein the track drive member is disposed to engage the track such that when the input device moves the linear reciprocating member back and forth the track drive member moves along the track rotating the rotatable track member to convert the linear motion imparted to the linear reciprocating member by the input device to the rotary motion of the rotatable track member to operate or drive the output device.

Stratified scavenging two-stroke engine

An air-leading type, stratified scavenging two-stroke engine. The engine including a cylinder member and a crankcase joined therewith has an intake passage, an exhaust passage, first and second scavenging passages, a communicating portion and an air passage. The intake passage, the exhaust passage and the air passage are formed in the cylinder member. The first and the second scavenging passages each has a cylinder member-side passage and a crankcase-side passage. The cylinder member-side passages of both of the first and the second scavenging passages communicate with each other via the communicating portion. The air passage is connected to the cylinder member-side passage of the first scavenging passage. In the engine, air for pre-scavenging is introduced from the air passage through a check valve into the cylinder member-side passage of the first scavenging passage, and a part of the introduced air flows into the second scavenging passage through the communicating portion.

A laminar-scavenging two-cycle engine which has a high laminar-scavenging effect, includes a scavenging passage having a crankcase side portion extending along a crankcase, and a cylinder side portion extending along a cylinder and having a length larger than the sum of the diameter and stroke of the cylinder. An ambient air introducing passage for introducing leading air into the scavenging passage is connected to an intermediate portion of the scavenging passage. A notch for opening a scavenging port to the side of the crankcase when a piston is near the top dead center is formed in the piston.

Uniflow-scavenging-type two-cycle engine

A uniflow-scavenging-type two-cycle engine includes: a cylinder; a piston that slides in the cylinder; an exhaust port that is provided at a first end of the cylinder; an exhaust valve that opens and closes the exhaust port; a scavenging port that is provided in an inner circumferential surface of a second end of the cylinder in the stroke direction of the piston and inhales an active gas into a combustion chamber in accordance with a sliding movement of the piston; a plurality of fuel injection valves that inject a fuel gas to the active gas, which has been drawn in from the scavenging port to the combustion chamber, to thereby generate a premixed gas; and a fuel injection control unit that varies injection directions of fuel gas injected from a part or all of the fuel injection valves.

Diesel engine with turbulent jet ignition

A diesel engine employs a turbulent jet ignition system and method. In another aspect, diesel fuel and air are premixed prior to introduction of the mixture into a main engine combustion chamber. A further aspect employs a turbocharger compressor to boost air pressure into a main piston combustion chamber and/or an ignition pre-chamber for missing with a heavy fuel, such as diesel.

The two-stroke internal combustion engine has an engine crankcase including a sealing mechanism that, at all times and under all circumstances, confine the oil in the lower crankcase. The two-stroke engine uses a gaseous fuel based on dihydrogen and dioxygen, and releases only water vapor charged with unused gaseous fuel. A device for recycling the exhaust gases serves to recover the unused gaseous fuel and to reinject it at the intake opening, or the exhaust opening.

Two-stroke engine and method for operating a two-stroke engine

A two-stroke engine includes a cylinder having a combustion chamber. The combustion chamber is delimited by a piston guided in a reciprocating manner in the cylinder and drives a crankshaft. A first intake channel opens into the crankcase interior. A transfer channel opens into the crankcase interior via a transfer window on a cylinder bore of the cylinder and via a passage opening. A second intake channel is provided for supplying scavenging air to the transfer channel. The first intake channel and the second intake channel are configured for supplying air. An injection valve configured for injecting the entire quantity of fuel to be supplied to the engine directly into the crankcase interior is disposed on the crankcase. A method for operating a two-stroke engine provides that the entire quantity of fuel to be supplied to the engine via a metering installation is supplied directly to the crankcase interior.
