Test and control apparatus, system and method for wind farm

A test and control apparatus, system and method for a wind farm, are provided. The test and control apparatus includes a first communication interface, a second communication interface, and a processor card. The processor card receives, via the first communication interface, a frequency regulation instruction issued by the grid scheduling server, receives operation information of the wind power generation unit via the second communication interface, and calculates, based on the operation information of the wind power generation unit, a first frequency regulation capability of the wind power generation unit performing a frequency regulation without using the first energy storage battery. The processor card sends the frequency regulation instruction to the wind power generation unit without using the first energy storage battery, in a case that the first frequency regulation capability of the wind power generation unit satisfies a requirement of the frequency regulation instruction.

Methods and systems described herein relate to power generation control for an aerial vehicle. An example method may involve determining an asynchronous flight pattern for two or more aerial vehicles, where the asynchronous flight pattern includes a respective flight path for each of the two or more aerial vehicles; and operating each of the aerial vehicles in a crosswind flight substantially along its respective flight path, where each aerial vehicle generates electrical power over time in a periodic profile, and where the power profile of each aerial vehicle is out of phase with respect to the power profile generated by each of the other aerial vehicles.

Virtual synchronous generator with active damping

The invention relates to a method for controlling a power generating unit such as a wind turbine which is configured as a virtual synchronous machine. Capacitor voltage signals obtained from voltage measurements of output capacitors are filtered in order to reduce a magnitude of an impedance peak and/or shift the impedance peak where the impedance peak is present in an impedance characteristic of the output of the power generating unit. Filter compensated voltage signals obtained from the output capacitors are combined with a voltage magnitude reference to obtain filtered capacitor voltage signals used for controlling the line side converter and thereby affect the impedance peak in a desired way.

A grid-forming wind turbine control method for a diode rectifier unit-based offshore wind power transmission system. A control system for controlling a grid-side converter has a three-layered structure, where a first layer is a combination of an active power controller and a reactive power controller; a second layer is a voltage controller; and a third layer is a current controller. The actual reactive power is represented by a per-unit value of a capacity of a corresponding wind turbine unit. The wind turbine units have the same reactive-power reference value, which is constant and does not change with time. The reactive power controllers of all wind turbine units have the same structure and parameters.

KITE-BASED ENERGY GENERATION CONTROL SYSTEMS AND RELATED METHODS

Various examples are provided related to kite energy generation. In one example, a method for kite-based energy generation includes deploying a kite in a flow of fluid; controlling movement of the kite along a continuous pattern across the flow, where the kite applies tension greater than a threshold during at least a first portion of the pattern and applies tension less than the threshold during at least a second portion of the pattern; and generating power during the first portion of the continuous pattern. In another example, a system includes a kite including control surfaces that control movement of the kite along a continuous pattern across the flow of fluid; a winch connected to the kite by a tether, and a generator of the winch that can generate power during a portion of the pattern; and a spool controller that can control spooling of the tether during the pattern.

Electro-Thermal Heating system for wind turbine blades

The present invention relates to a method of controlling an electro-thermal heating system in a wind turbine blade, comprising measuring a supply voltage to the electro-thermal heating system, determining a duration of a variable time based enforced off period based on the measured supply voltage, and inserting the variable time based enforced off period between subsequent switching duty cycles that controls the electro-thermal heating system. The present invention also relates to a wind turbine that comprises one or more wind turbine blades wherein each wind turbine blade comprises an electro-thermal heating system and a processor adapted to perform the method.

A method for controlling a multiphase separately excited synchronous generator in a wind turbine is provided. The generator has a stator and an armature having an excitation input, connected to an excitation controller, for inputting an excitation current or an excitation voltage. The stator has a stator output, connected to a rectifier, for delivering stator currents. The rectifier is controllable to control the stator currents by detecting a speed of the armature or rotor, determining a setpoint power to be delivered by the generator or the turbine based on the speed, determining an excitation current or voltage based on the detected speed and determined setpoint power, inputting the excitation current or voltage by excitation controller at the excitation input, determining the stator currents as setpoint stator currents based on the speed and the setpoint power, and controlling the rectifier to set the stator currents to the setpoint stator currents.
