Multi-configuration lighting device

A lighting device includes a housing that supports a flexible light assembly and can be operated in multiple configurations. The housing includes a cup-shaped opaque stator and light transmissive rotor that rotates relative to the stator. The rotor includes a spool upon which the flexible light assembly can be wound. The light source is configurable between a retracted configuration in which the flexible light assembly resides in the housing and light emitted by the flexible light assembly is transmitted through the rotor, and an extended configuration in which a portion of the flexible light assembly resides outside the housing. In the extended configuration, a portion of light emitted from the flexible light assembly is transmitted through the rotor and another portion of light emitted from the flexible light assembly originates outside the housing.

The method comprising the following steps in any order: withdrawing the hose (20) from the LED light hose reel; selecting light colour and selecting blinking or constant light by activating the control element (32); attaching the hose (20) to an object; and retracting the hose (20) into the LED light hose reel.

The self-locking device is configured to operate in (1) a locked state when a switch locks a spring in a compressed state and (2) an unlocked state when the switch releases the spring to be in a relaxed state. The electronic candle also includes a bottom case such that the bottom case is enclosed within the outer shell when the self-locking device is in the locked state and the bottom case is exposed to an external environment beneath the outer shell when the self-locking device is in the unlocked state.

The housing comprises an annular shoulder at the open end for abutting a wall into which the recessed light fixture is installed. The housing comprises a first wall of generally cylindrical shape extending between the open and closed ends and a second wall defining the closed end of the housing. Both first and second walls have thicknesses between 0.5 and 1 mm and are completely sealed so to prevent air flow between an interior and an exterior of the housing other than through the open end and through an opening for feeding through cables for electrical energy supply. The first and second walls render the recessed light fixture fireproof by preventing high temperatures or fire from propagating quickly through the housing.
