Glucose Measuring Device for Use in Personal Area Network
A glucose measuring system includes a glucose meter that incorporates wireless communication capabilities. The meter can advantageously be a low cost meter by eliminating expensive components, such as the display. The user nevertheless is able to retrieve and view his or her glucose values by referring to displays within the glucose measuring local area network. Feedback via these displays can advantageously be used by the diabetic to create a higher level of confidence and safety.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING MEDICAL IMAGE DATA ONTO PORTABLE DIGITAL RECORDING MEDIA
This application discloses a system for recording medical image data for production on a portable digital recording medium such as CDs and DVDs. Aspects of this disclosure include a robotic disc burning system that can receive a request for medical imaging data generated by an imaging modality and record all of the following onto an optical disc that is removable from the robotic disc burning system: the medical imaging data, data that is related to the medical imaging data, and a viewing program configured to allow viewing by a general purpose computer of the medical imaging data that is recorded on the disc. The system includes, among other components, a labeling module configured to produce a label on the optical disc without manual application of the label onto the optical disc. Additional aspects of this disclosure include an associated method for recording medical image data.
Analyte Sensor Calibration Management
Methods and devices to detect analyte in body fluid are provided. Embodiments include positioning an analyte sensor in fluid contact with an analyte, detecting an attenuation in a signal from an analyte sensor after positioning during a predetermined time period, categorizing the detected attenuation in the analyte sensor signal based, at least in part, on one or more characteristics of the signal, performing signal processing to generate a reportable data associated with the detected analyte sensor signal during the predetermined time period, managing if and when to request additional reference signal measurements, and managing if and when to temporarily not display results.
BIO-THREAT ALERT SYSTEM
In a bio-threat alert infrastructure system and method, an analyzing processor applies statistical algorithms to the collected quantitative data to precisely estimate event data, including time and position data, associated the development of a bio-threat. An encoding processor encodes the event data into a bio-threat alert signal. A transmitting element transmits the signal for reception by a bio-threat alert device. In the bio-threat alert device, and an associated method, a receiving element receives the signal. A decoding processor decodes the signal into the event data. A presentation element presents the event data to a user of the device.
HANDHELD DIAGNOSTIC TEST DEVICE AND METHOD FOR USE WITH AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND A TEST CARTRIDGE IN A RAPID DIAGNOSTIC TEST
A handheld diagnostic test device includes a port to removably receive a test cartridge, an element connected with an electronic device, and sensors for detection of test data from a biological or environment sample after reaction with reagents onboard the cartridge. The test device also includes memory storing algorithms for upload to the electronic device to enable a processor thereof: to await elapse of a pre-determined time following reaction of the sample with the reagents; to thereafter instruct the sensors to detect the test data; to generate presentation data based on the test data; and to present the presentation data from a presentation element of the electronic device to a user. A related method includes a connecting step, an uploading step, a presentation step, a cartridge inserting step, a waiting step, a sensing step, and an electronic device processing step.
THERAPY PROGRAM MODIFICATION BASED ON A THERAPY FIELD MODEL
Techniques for modeling therapy fields for therapy delivered by medical devices are described. Each therapy field model is based on a set of therapy parameters and represents where therapy will propagate from the therapy system delivering therapy according to the set of therapy parameters. Therapy field models may be useful in guiding the modification of therapy parameters. As one example, a processor compares an algorithmic model of a therapy field to a reference therapy field and adjusts at least one therapy parameter based on the comparison. As another example, a processor adjusts at least one therapy parameter to increase an operating efficiency of the therapy system while substantially maintaining the modeled therapy field.
PHYSIOLOGICAL MONITOR SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING MEDICATION DELIVERY AND OUTCOME
A method is described for the determination of the taking of a medication utilizing at least one physiological parameter monitoring platform. In addition, the method also may enable the determination of physiological effects or events resultant from the taking of a medication (or lack thereof) through the use of one or more physiological monitoring platforms.
Personal Health Advisor System
Personal health advisor system comprised of one or more personal wireless health devices, one mobile device, and one cloud-based server, all interconnected via wireless networks wherein health-related recommendations are adjusted asynchronously by the cloud-based server and displayed to the user on the mobile device wherein the asynchronous heath-related recommendation adjustments are based on the values of the user physiological parameter measurements generated by the one or more wireless personal health devices.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MONITORING PROGRESS OF DELIVERY OF A PATIENT-SPECIFIC MEDICATION IN A HEALTHCARE FACILITY
Systems and methods of monitoring progress of delivery of a patient-specific medication are disclosed. A patient/medication identification (ID) device is provided on a package containing the medication, the patient/medication ID device comprising medication/patient information indicative of the medication and the patient. At least one location ID device is provided at a location, the at least one location ID device comprising a unique location ID associated with the location. The medication/patient information and the patient/medication ID are read. Delivery progress information indicative of a last-known read location where at least one of the medication/patient ID information and the unique location identifier was read is generated. The delivery progress information is stored in a database. The delivery progress information is accessed from the database in response to the request. A delivery status of the medication is indicated to the user.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CUSTOMIZING INTERACTIVE VIRTUAL BOUNDARIES
A method for customizing an interactive control boundary includes positioning a virtual implant model relative to a virtual bone model based on a user input, and extracting reference feature information associated with the virtual implant model, wherein the reference feature information describes one of a point, a line, a plane, and a surface associated with the virtual implant model. The method further includes mapping the extracted reference feature information to the virtual model of the bone, and receiving information indicative of a positional landmark associated with the bone, then estimating an intersection between the positional landmark and the mapped reference feature and generating a virtual boundary based, at least in part, on the estimated intersection between the positional landmark and the mapped reference feature.
