Replacement thermal sleeve for a reactor vessel closure head penetration adapter of control rod drive mechanism

A replacement thermal sleeve with a flange for a reactor vessel closure head penetration adapter housing. By altering a diameter of the flange, a replacement thermal sleeve can be installed through the narrow diameter of the penetration adapter housing opening from under the reactor vessel head. The flange can be compressible or expandable or the tubular wall of the thermal sleeve can be inserted in longitudinal sections, one at a time, into an opening in the underside of the penetration head adapter and reformed within the opening when fully inserted.

REACTOR BUILDING AND VESSEL SYSTEMS

Reactor buildings and vessel systems are disclosed. A nuclear power system includes: a building structure that comprises at least two exterior side walls and two end walls, at least one of the exterior walls angled non-orthogonally relative to a floor of the building structure, the at least two exterior walls and two end walls defining an interior volume of the building structure; one or more nuclear reactor systems mounted at least partially in the interior volume of the building structure; and one or more heat exchanger systems mounted at least partially to at least one of the exterior walls. A nuclear reactor vessel system includes: a nuclear fission reactor; an inner vessel that defines an inner volume sized to at least partially enclose the nuclear fission reactor; and an outer vessel sized to wholly or substantially enclose the inner vessel, the inner vessel being removable from the outer vessel.

Nuclear reactor flow calming assembly

A nuclear reactor includes a vessel having an outer wall and vessel bottom, and an enclosure delimited by a cylindrical inner wall disposed inside the vessel such that the inner wall and outer wall define a circuit with an annular cross-section. A support element is located adjacent the bottom of the enclosure to hold control elements of the core. A flow diffusion element is positioned between the support element and the vessel bottom and has a circular flat surface portion including disc shaped orifices of the same diameter. The space between the flat portion and the vessel bottom forms an unobstructed mixing zone to allow uniform distribution of flow rates of fluid circulated through the enclosure.

Control rod drive mechanism (CRDM) mounting system for pressurized water reactors
09805832 · 2017-10-31 · ·

A standoff supporting a control rod drive mechanism (CRDM) in a nuclear reactor is connected to a distribution plate which provides electrical power and hydraulics. The standoff has connectors that require no action to effectuate the electrical connection to the distribution plate other than placement of the standoff onto the distribution plate. This facilitates replacement of the CRDM. In addition to the connectors, the standoff has alignment features to ensure the CRDM is connected in the correct orientation. After placement, the standoff may be secured to the distribution plate by bolts or other fasteners. The distribution plate may be a single plate that contains the electrical and hydraulic lines and also is strong enough to provide support to the CRDMs or may comprise a stack of two or more plates.

Method and Control System for Gas Injection into Coolant and Nuclear Reactor Plant

The patent discloses method and control system for gas injection into the coolant of a nuclear reactor plant. The method includes the following steps: gas to be injected into the coolant is supplied from the gas system to the above-coolant space; gas is injected into the gas system from the above-coolant space. Technical result: prevention of reuse of contaminated gas.
