The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a polyarylene sulfide resin comprising: reacting a sulfoxide represented by the following formula (1) with a particular aromatic compound to obtain a poly(arylenesulfonium salt) having a particular constitutional unit; and dealkylating or dearylating the poly(arylenesulfonium salt) to obtain a polyarylene sulfide resin having a particular constitutional unit, ##STR00001## wherein R.sup.1 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, etc.; Ar.sup.1 and Ar.sup.2 each independently represent an arylene group optionally having a substituent; and Z represents a direct bond, etc.

In crop production in the fields of agriculture, horticulture and the like, the damage caused by diseases etc. is still immense, and diseases resistant to existing microbicides have emerged. Under such circumstances, the development of novel agricultural and horticultural microbicides is desired. The present invention provides an anthranilic acid ester compound represented by the general formula (1): ##STR00001## (wherein A.sup.1, A.sup.3 and A.sup.4 each represent a CH group, A.sup.2 represents a C-haloalkyl group, R.sup.1 represents an alkyl group, R.sup.3 represents a hydrogen atom or an acyl group, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.7 each represent a hydrogen atom, R.sup.6 represents a haloalkyl group, Z represents an alkyl group, and m represents 0, 1 or 2), or a salt thereof, an agricultural and horticultural microbicide comprising the compound or a salt thereof as an active ingredient, and a method for using the microbicide.
