Process And Apparatus For Manufacture of Processable Polyvinyl Alcohol
A method for the manufacture of a plasticized polyvinyl alcohol polymer mixture comprising the steps of: introducing into a mixing reactor a polyvinyl alcohol polymer comprising homopolymeric polyvinyl alcohol or a blend thereof having a degree of hydrolysis in the range of 93% to 98% or more; wherein the mixing reactor comprises a blending chamber having a primary inlet, a primary outlet and at least two inter-engaging components extending between the primary inlet and primary outlet, the components being arranged to apply a shearing force to the polymer while the polymer is conveyed by the components from the inlet through a reaction zone to the outlet; one or more secondary inlets located downstream from the primary inlet for introducing reactants comprising a processing aid and a plasticizer to the chamber to form a reaction mixture; wherein the plasticizer is selected from the group consisting of the following compounds and mixtures thereof: (a) sugar alcohols selected from the group consisting of: diglycerol, triglycerol, fructose, ribose, xylose, D-mannitol, triacetin, and mixtures thereof; polyols selected from the group consisting of: pentaerythritol, dipentaerythritol, and mixtures thereof; (b) diols selected from the group consisting of: methyl pentanediol, 1,2-propanediol, 1,4-butanediol, 2-hydroxy-1,3-propanediol, 3-methyl-1,3-butanediol, 3,3-dimethyl-1,2-butanediol, and mixtures thereof; (c) glycols selected from the group consisting of: polyethylene glycol 300, polyethylene glycol 400, alkoxylated polyethylene glycol, and mixtures thereof; (d) caprolactam, tricyclic trimethylolpropane formal, rosin esters, euricamide, and mixtures thereof; wherein the blending chamber comprises a plurality of heated regions arranged so that the mixture is subjected to a temperature profile whereby the temperature increases from the inlet to the outlet; a secondary outlet located between the reaction zone and primary outlet arranged to allow removal of processing aid from the chamber; reacting the processing agent, plasticizer and polymer in the reaction zone to form plasticized polymer; and
allowing the plasticized polymer to pass from the primary outlet.
AZIRIDINYL FUNCTIONAL COMPOUND
The present invention relates to compount (I) comprising at least one functional group A and at least one functional group B, wherein the functional groups A has structural formula A: wherein R.sub.1 is H, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are independently chosen from H, methyl or ethyl, m is 1-6; and the functional groups B has structural formula B: R.sub.5 is H or methyl, X is O or NH, Z′ is a polyalkoxy group or an omega-alkoxy polycaprolacton group, Y′ is a collection of atoms covalently connected in linear or branched configuration n″ is 0 or 1, and m′ is an integer from 1-6; with the proviso that the summed amount of the number of functional groups A and the number of functional groups B in compound (I) is from 2-13; and the compound has a molecular weight in the range from 800-10000 Dalton.

A polishing liquid set includes constituent components of a polishing liquid stored while being divided into a first liquid and a second liquid. A polishing method includes a step of polishing a surface to be polished by using a polishing liquid.

MULTI-AZIRIDINE COMPOUND
The present invention relates to a multi-aziridine compound having: a) at least 2 of the following structural units (A): (A) whereby R.sub.1 is H; R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 are independently chosen from H, a linear group containing from 1 to 8 carbon atoms and optionally containing one or more heteroatoms, a branched or cyclic group containing from 3 to 8 carbon atoms and optionally containing one or more heteroatoms, phenyl, benzyl, or pyridinyl; R.sub.3 is chosen from a linear group containing from 1 to 8 carbon atoms and optionally containing one or more heteroatoms, a branched or cyclic group containing from 3 to 8 carbon atoms and optionally containing one or more heteroatoms, phenyl, benzyl, or pyridinyl; or R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 (in case R.sub.2 is different than H) may be part of the same cyclic group containing from 3 to 8 carbon atoms; R′ and R″ are independently H or an aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 12 carbon atoms; and b) a molecular weight from 600 to 20000 Daltons, wherein the molecular weight is determined using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry according to the description.

MULTI-AZIRIDINE COMPOUND
The present invention relates to a multi-aziridine compound having: a) from 2 to 6 of the following structural units (A): whereby R′, R″ are as defined herein m is an integer from 1 to 6; b) one or more linking chains wherein each one of these linking chains links two of the structural units A; and c) a molecular weight in the range from 840 Daltons to 5000 Daltons. The multi-aziridine compound can be used for example for crosslinking of for example carboxylic acid functional polymers dissolved and/or dispersed in an aqueous medium.

COATING COMPOSITION
The present invention relates to an aqueous coating composition comprising a multi-aziridine compound and a carboxylic acid functional polymer, characterized in that (i) the composition is an aqueous dispersion having a pH ranging from 8 to 14, (ii) the aqueous dispersion comprises particles X which particles X comprise multi aziridine compound and particles Y which particles Y comprise carboxylic acid functional polymer, and (iii) said multi-aziridine compound has: a) from 2 to 6 of the following structural units A: b) one or more linking chains wherein each one of these linking chains links two of the structural units A; and c) a molecular weight in the range from 500 to 10000 Daltons.

Compositions include a compound preparable by reaction of components comprising an optionally crosslinked polyethylenimine and at least one an amine-reactive hydrolyzable organosilane represented by the formula R—Z—SiY.sub.3. R represents an amine-reactive group containing 1 to 18 carbon atoms; Z represents a divalent organic group containing 1 to 8 carbon atoms; and each Y independently represents a hydrolyzable group. Methods of using the compositions to make articles, and articles produces thereby are also disclosed. Disclosed herein are a functionalized diene monomer-containing polymer containing first and second functionalizing groups, processes for preparing the functionalized polymer, and rubber compositions containing the functionalized polymer. The functionalized polymer contains polymer chains comprises of at least one conjugated diene monomer optionally in combination with at least one vinyl aromatic monomer wherein each polymer chain is functionalized at its chain end with at least the first functionalizing group and is coupled via the first functionalizing group to the second functionalizing group.
