Hemodynamic Reserve Monitor and Hemodialysis Control
Tools and techniques for estimating a probability that a patient is bleeding or has sustained intravascular volume loss (e.g., due to hemodialysis or dehydration) and/or to estimate a patient’s current hemodynamic reserve index, track the patient’s hemodynamic reserve index over time, and/or predict a patient’s hemodynamic reserve index in the future. Tools and techniques for estimating and/or predicting a patient’s dehydration state. Tools and techniques for controlling a hemodialysis machine based on the patient’s estimated and/or predicted hemodynamic reserve index.
Device for measuring hair properties
A device for measuring hair properties has a first part (I) and a second part (II) between which hair (H) is guided. The first part includes a measuring probe (MP), and the second part is arranged for deforming the hair against the measuring probe. While the device moves along the hair, the measuring probe experiences both a friction force resulting from the hair being guided along the measuring probe, and a deformation force resulting from hair deformation by the second part against the measuring probe. The second part includes a pressure element (PB, S) for pressing the hair against the measuring probe. In alternative embodiments, the second part comprises alignment elements (AE) at opposite sides of the measuring probe, and guidance elements (G) for mitigating an influence of an angle at which the device is applied to the hair to the friction force and/or the deformation force.
DETERMINING A LEVEL OF OXYGENATION OF ONE OR MORE CELLS
An embodiment of a cell-oxygenation monitoring system includes a probe and a base. The probe is connectable to the base, configured to direct electromagnetic energy having wavelengths in an approximate range of 400 nm-900 nm into a body having at least one cell, and configured to receive a portion of the electromagnetic energy redirected by the body during a time. The base includes a generator configured to generate the electromagnetic energy during the time, and a computing circuit configured to determine, in response to the portion of redirected electromagnetic energy, a level of oxygenation of one or more of the at least one cell.
REFLECTIVE VIDEO DISPLAY APPARATUS FOR INTERACTIVE TRAINING AND DEMONSTRATION AND METHODS OF USING SAME
A smart mirror can show live or recorded streaming video of an instructor performing a workout in a package that is attractive and unobtrusive enough to hang in a living room. The smart mirror includes a mirror surface with a fully reflecting section and a partially reflecting section. A display behind the partially reflecting section shows the video when the smart mirror is on and is almost invisible when the smart mirror is off. The smart mirror also has a speaker, a microphone, and a camera to enable a user to view the video content and interact with the instructor. The smart mirror may connect to the user's smart phone, a peripheral device (e.g., a Bluetooth speaker) to augment user experience, a biometric sensor to provide biometric data to assess user performance, and/or a network router to connect the smart mirror to a content provider, an instructor, and/or other users.
Electronic device and method for measuring vital signal
Methods and apparatuses are provided for measuring a biometric signal by an electronic device. An object having an animation effect for inhalation and exhalation is displayed. The animation effect includes the object being expanded to guide the inhalation of a user and the object being contracted to guide exhalation of the user. A sensor unit obtains at least one biometric signal related to a heart rate of the user while the object is displayed. A motion of the electronic device is detected having a strength that is greater than or equal to a threshold strength. Based on the motion ceasing before exceeding a predetermined time, display of the object and obtaining of the at least one biometric signal is continued. Based on the motion lasting longer than or equal to the predetermined time, the obtaining of the at least one biometric signal and the displaying of the object is terminated.
Biological information analysis device, biological information analysis system, program, and biological information analysis method
A biological information analyzing device includes: an indicator extraction unit that extracts an indicator pertaining to a characteristic of a blood pressure waveform using data of the blood pressure waveform obtained by a sensor, which is worn on a user's body and can non-invasively measure the blood pressure waveform for each of heartbeats, continuously measuring the blood pressure waveform; and a processing unit that carries out a process based on the extracted indicator.
System for training a subject to improve psychophysiological function for performance under stress
A computer-implemented system for training a subject to improve psychophysiological function for performance of stress-inducing activity includes a sensor interface device and a non-transitory, tangible computer readable storage medium storing computer program code. The sensor interface provides measurement of a physiological parameter of the subject, indicating stress in the subject. The computer readable storage medium stores computer code that provides a set of training segments presenting the subject with one or more visual, audible, or tactile prompts wherein at least one of the training segments simultaneously presents the subject with a stress-inducing prompt while inducing the subject to perform a relaxation-inducing protocol.

Estimating caloric expenditure using heart rate model specific to motion class
Embodiments are disclosed for estimating caloric expenditure using a heart rate model specific to a motion class. In an embodiment, a method comprises: obtaining acceleration and rotation rate from motion sensors of a wearable device; determining a vertical component of inertial acceleration and a vertical component of rotational acceleration from the acceleration and rotation rate, respectively; determining a magnitude of the rotation rate; determining a correlation between the inertial vertical acceleration component and rotational acceleration; determining a percentage of motion outside a dominant plane of motion; predicting a motion class based on a motion classification model that takes as input the motions, correlation and percentage; determining a likelihood the user is walking; in accordance with determining that the user is likely not walking, configuring a heart rate model based on the predicted motion class; and estimating, using the configured heart rate model, a caloric expenditure of the user.
AUDIBLE AND VISUAL CUES IN CHEST-WORN SENSOR DEVICE
A chest-worn sensor device, such as a device for daily at-home monitoring of cardiopulmonary health conditions, includes an audio and/or visual interface that provides cues to assist a user in performing a measurement sequence. The sensor device may detect whether there are any body posture issues or device contact issues. In response to detecting an issue, the sensor device provides and audio and/or visual cue to the user indicating the issue. The sensor device may provide additional cues throughout the measurement sequence, such as a cue that a measurement is being taken, a cue for the user to change body posture, and a cue for the user to remove the sensor device.
