DELAYING PRE-TERM BIRTH
A device for retarding birth including an upper ring for surrounding a cervix, an anchoring component for anchoring the device, and an elastic component for attaching the upper ring to the anchoring component, wherein the elastic component pushes the upper ring and the anchoring component apart. A device for retarding birth including a sleeve for surrounding a cervix along a greater portion of a length of the cervix, a support strip on the sleeve directed along an axis of the sleeve, and a ring at least partially around the sleeve, in which when a top of the sleeve is pushed to expand radially, the support strip pivots on the ring, such that an end of the support strip near the top of the sleeve moves radially outward, and an end of the support strip near the bottom of the sleeve moves radially inward. Related apparatus and methods are also described.
Estimating the temperature of a housing of a device
Techniques for estimating the temperature of an external portion of a medical device are described. In an example, processing circuitry may determine a temperature sensed by at least one temperature sensor of an internal portion of the device, and determine, based on an algorithm that incorporates the temperature of the internal portion of the device, an estimated temperature of a second portion of the device, wherein the algorithm is representative of an estimated temperature difference between the first portion of the device and the second portion of the device based at least in part on a dynamic transfer function that operates in a time-domain.
System for maintaining and controlling surgical tools
Methods, apparatuses, and systems for maintaining and controlling surgical tools are disclosed. For each surgical tool, a surgeon can give verbal commands which can result in feedback provided by a synthesized voice or the execution of an action as instructed by the verbal command. The tools are monitored during use to ensure the tools remain within their operating parameters. The system alerts the surgeon should the tools approach their operational limitations.
Tissue Retractor Oximeter
A retractor has an oximeter sensor at its tip, which allows measuring of oxygen saturation of a tissue being retracted by the retractor. The tip includes one or more openings for at least one source and detector. A specific implementation is a spinal nerve root retractor with an oximeter sensor.
Computer system for group crisis-state detection and intervention
The disclosed technology provides a system and a computer implemented method for crisis state detection and intervention of a person or group of persons, the method comprising: providing a computer system designed to detect and intervene non-normal, elevated crisis operating states; using one or more sensors that ascertains a crisis state via physical, behavioral, or cognitive indicators; deducing, with computational hardware, the operational state of a user or users from one or more sensors; and administering an immediate, dual intervention of a sensory form to de-escalate the crisis operating state of a person or group of persons.
Methods of assessing contact between an electrode and tissue using complex impedance measurements
A system and method measures impedance across a plurality of electrodes and assesses proximity or contact between electrodes of a medical device and patient tissue. Contact is assessed between individual electrodes and cardiac tissue using bipolar electrode complex impedance measurements. Initially, baseline impedance values are established for each of the individual electrodes based on the responses of the electrodes to the applied drive signals. After establishing the baseline impedance values a series of subsequent impedance values are measured for each electrode. For each electrode, each subsequent impedance value may be compared to a previous baseline impedance value for that electrode. If a subsequent impedance value is less than the baseline impedance value for a given electrode, the baseline impedance value may be reset to the subsequent impedance value. Such systems and method are particularly applicable to medical devices having numerous electrodes.
Method and System for Providing Continuous Calibration of Implantable Analyte Sensors
Methods and systems for providing continuous monitoring of analytes using analyte sensors are disclosed. Techniques include a receiving device comprising a communication unit configured to wirelessly communicate with a first and second transmitter unit, processors coupled to the communication unit and a memory coupled to the processors storing instructions which, when executed by the processors receive one or more first data signals from the first transmitter unit; receive, while the first glucose sensor is positioned and the second glucose sensor is positioned, a user input corresponding to a code; receive one or more second data signals from the second transmitter unit, wherein the communication unit is configured to wirelessly communicate with the second transmitter unit after termination of wireless communication with the first transmitter unit; process the second data signals to produce processed data signals; and provide the processed data signals for display.
Fluorescence observation device and fluorescence observation endoscope device
A light source device configured to irradiate an object with visible light and excitation light, an imaging device including a first substrate on which a plurality of first photoelectric conversion elements configured to detect a visible light within reflected light from the object are formed, a second substrate on which a plurality of second photoelectric conversion elements configured to detect light of an infrared region within the reflected light transmitted through the first substrate are formed, and an interlayer filter configured to attenuate the light of the visible region transmitted through the first substrate, and a setting device configured to set a light emission intensity of the visible light radiated by the light source device so that first photoelectric conversion elements is able to detect the visible light and a detection value of light detected by second photoelectric conversion element become less than or equal to a predetermined value.
INTEGRATED CIRCUIT MEDICAL DEVICES AND METHOD
A universal implantable integrated circuit medical device platform having integral and monolithic circuit traces. The platform allows for implanting into a mammalian body single and multi-functional interface devices for sensing, monitoring stimulating and/or modulating physiological conditions within the body. Microelectronic circuitry may be integrated onto the platform or may be joined as modular components to the platform.
Implantable connector including at least one electrical component
An implantable connector for connecting an electronics package and a neural interface is made by way of a compressible contacts (e.g., a spring) that physical contacts a corresponding exposed bond pad. The compressible contact is held in compression with the exposed bond pad using a mechanical coupler. The compressible contact is physically separated and electrically isolated from other contacts by way of a compressible gasket. The compressible gasket is also held in compression using the mechanical coupler.
