POSTURAL SWAY ANALYSIS SYSTEM AND METHOD
A postural sway analysis system is disclosed. The system includes a camera worn by an individual, a processing unit coupled to the camera, a floor marker placed on a floor near the shoes or feet of the individual. The camera is configured to acquire images of the floor marker, which has a known size or diameter, while the individual is standing. The processing unit is configured to capture an initial calibration image of the floor marker using the camera while an individual is standing still to determine the distance between the camera and the floor marker. The processing unit is further configured to capture subsequent time-varying images of the floor marker while the individual is standing (and swaying). Furthermore, the processing unit is configured to compare the calibration images to the subsequent time-varying images to determine a postural sway of the individual.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FACILITATING PATIENT REHABILITATION
A system and method for rehabilitating a patient. In some embodiments, a patient or other subject can stand on a balance plate and perform one or more tests in response to instructions or visual stimuli on a display screen. Data, such as Centre of Pressure data, can be obtained from the balance plate and processed by a processor in tandem with the progression of a test presented on the display screen. The information can be correlated and used to assist in diagnosing or rehabilitating the patient or subject.
ERGONOMIC REFRACTION STATION AND METHOD FOR USING SAME
The ergonomic refraction station and procedure of use consists of a phoropter helmet, chair, work table, monitor and electronic circuit, which seeks to perform a refraction test in the conditions most similar to the usual work environment of the examinee, for this it consists of a lightweight phoropter helmet, which adjusts to the size of the user, made of transparent material to allow contact with its surroundings and execute the usual movements of head, neck, eyes and working distance, parameters that are captured by optical, distance and inclination sensors, located on the phoropter helmet or on the flexible and adjustable table with swan neck arms, so that once the patient places the phoropter helmet and sits on the chair and table, the sensors send information to a microprocessor that shall recognize the real working conditions of the patient and adapt them to the conditions of the ergonomic refraction station, such as: size of letters, aligned inclinations of head-eye-hand coordination with the vision charts, lighting and thus adequately projecting the reading chart on the table and the characters and graphics that the examinee shall read; It also includes removable multifocal lenses or in a test case with the appropriate coupling, noncircular eyepieces with a greater visual field than the traditional ones for the far, middle and near vision test and ocular covers.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR LANDMARKING A PATIENT
A system for landmarking a patient during a medical procedure, such as Magnetic Resonance (MR) Imaging, is disclosed. A video display monitor displays images from a video camera positioned in a location relative to an isocenter of the medical device, and a patient's position is adjusted to align a feature of interest on the patient with a reference marker displayed on the monitor. A landmark may be declared on the feature of interest such that the system can move the patient to place the landmarked feature of interest substantially at the isocenter of the medical device.
Method And Apparatus For Cuff-Less Blood Pressure Measurement In A Mobile Device
A system and method is presented for cuff-less blood pressure measurement in a mobile device. A key aspect of this disclosure is the discovery of a new location for blood pressure measurement at the fingertip of a subject and that reflectance-mode photoplethysmography can be used to help make this measurement. Through experiments in human subjects, it was discovered that it is indeed possible to measure systemic blood pressure by having a subject press the fingertip against a reflectance-mode photo-plethysmography-force sensor unit under visual guidance and then compute blood pressure from the resulting variable-amplitude blood volume oscillations and applied pressure via an oscillometric algorithm.
System for measuring lower extremity muscle strength
The present invention relates to a system for measuring lower extremity muscle strength, and more particularly, to a system for measuring lower extremity muscle strength which can effectively measure or train lower extremity muscle strength by means of a simpler method.
Setting a Position of a Patient Table or an Object Positioned on the Patient Table
Magnetic resonance (MR) apparatus and a monitoring unit, wherein the MR apparatus includes: a scanner unit to acquire medical MR data; a patient receiving region surrounded at least in part by the scanner unit; a patient positioning apparatus having a patient table designed to be movable into the patient receiving region; a position acquisition unit to acquire position data of a position of the patient table and/or of an object positioned on the patient table, wherein the position acquisition unit comprises a camera; and a setting unit operable, based on a provided setting parameter, to set the position of the patient table and/or of the object on the patient table, wherein the monitoring unit is designed so as, with the acquired position data, to provide the setting parameter for setting a position of the patient table and/or of the object on the patient table.
METHOD, APPARATUS, AND COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM FOR GENERATING A SET OF RECOMMENDED ORTHOTIC PRODUCTS
In an embodiment, the present invention is an apparatus, comprising: a foot mat; a depth sensing camera; an elevated foot platform that reduces or prevents rotational movement of a foot; a processor in communication with the depth sensing camera, the processor further configured to calculate the circumference of a user's leg based on data from the depth sensing camera while the user has one foot on the foot mat and one foot on the elevated foot platform, the processor further configured to select a recommended product for the user's knee or ankle from among a set of pre-manufactured candidate products for knees or ankles based at least in part upon the leg circumference of the user; and an output device to display information received from the processor, the information identifying the recommended product to the user.
Mechanical design considerations for table-mounted device used as a sub-assembly in a magnetic tracking system working in conjunction with an X-ray imaging system
A registration fixture is configured for use with a medical imaging system. The registration fixture comprises a rigid internal structure comprising a plurality of fiducial markers arranged in a predefined pattern. The registration fixture further comprises a housing configured to surround the rigid internal structure. The registration fixture is configured to be mounted on a patient table.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS TO COLLECT A BIOLOGICAL SAMPLE
Sample processing methods and systems to collect a biological sample. A device may be configured collect a predetermined volume of a sample in sample chamber, and seal the chamber upon activation. The device may be further configured to mix the mix the sample with a predetermined volume of a reagent and/or mix the sample and the reagent in a pre-determined ration.
