Surgical instrument with mechanically operable lever
A surgical instrument includes a handle with a main body having a central axis, a lever pivotable around a pivot axis fixed with respect to the main body. The lever includes a finger abutment section including a lower finger rest contacting the ventral sides of a user's first and second fingers during pivoting movement of the finger abutment section towards the central axis, and an upper finger rest contacting the dorsal sides of both the fingers during pivoting movement of the finger abutment section away from the central axis; and a septum fixed to lower and upper finger rests and extending therebetween forming a separate first and second finger receiving portion for respectively receiving a first and a second fingers. The lever pivots around the pivot axis such that during pivoting of the lever, the septum central plane remains substantially coplanar with a plane parallel to the central axis.
Transluminal delivery devices and related kits and methods
Prosthesis deployment devices are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the prosthesis deployment device comprises an elongate delivery catheter assembly configured for electrosurgery and also configured to retain and deploy a prosthesis. Kits comprising the prosthesis deployment devices with a prosthesis loaded into a prosthesis pod of the device are disclosed herein as well as methods of using the prosthesis deployment devices.
Vaginal surgical apparatus
This invention relates generally to a medical device, and more specifically, to a vaginal surgical apparatus. In one embodiment, a vaginal device includes, but is not limited to, a shaft, the shaft including at least a space to at least partially accommodate a cervix; and a slot to secure a tenaculum; and a stopper that is positionably adjustable along at least a portion of a length of the shaft.
Powered surgical instruments with smart reload with separately attachable exteriorly mounted wiring connections
A modular surgical instrument system that comprises modular components and a control circuit electrically couplable to the modular components. The modular components comprise a shaft and a handle assembly. The handle assembly comprises a disposable outer housing. The disposable outer housing is movable between an open configuration and a closed configuration. The handle assembly further comprises a control inner core receivable inside the disposable outer housing in the open configuration. The disposable outer housing is configured to isolate the control inner core in the closed configuration. The modular components further comprise a loading unit releasably couplable to the shaft and a staple cartridge releasably couplable to an end effector. The loading unit comprises the end effector. The control circuit is configured to generate an interrogation signal, detect a response signal, determine a modular configuration of the modular surgical instrument system, and assess authenticity of the modular configuration.
VERTEBRAL JOINT IMPLANTS AND DELIVERY TOOLS
A spinal joint distraction system for treating a facet joint including articular surfaces having a contour is disclosed and may include a delivery device including a generally tubular structure adapted to engage a facet joint, an implant adapted to be delivered through the delivery device and into the facet joint, the implant comprising two members arranged in opposed position, and an implant distractor comprising a generally elongate member adapted to advance between the two members of the implant causing separation of the members and distraction of the facet joint, wherein the implant is adapted to conform to the shape of the implant distractor and/or the articular surfaces of the facet upon being delivered to the facet joint. Several embodiments of a system, several embodiments of an implant, and several methods are disclosed including a method for interbody fusion.
Hand grip apparatus for receiving operator input in a robotic surgery system
A hand grip apparatus for receiving operator input includes a body having a proximal end and a distal interface end for coupling to an input apparatus. A first control lever is attached to the body and extends away from the proximal end and terminates in a finger grip for receiving one of the operator's fingers. A second control lever is attached to the body and extends away from the proximal end terminating in a thumb grip for receiving the operator's thumb. Movement of at least one of the control levers is operable to produce a first control signal representing the movement. An input control is included on the body between the grip ends and has an actuator surface angled towards the finger grip end and configured to produce a second control signal in response to actuation by one of the operator's fingers.
Single port instruments
Surgical tools that can be used in single port laparoscopic procedures can include a low-profile handle assembly to minimize tool interference adjacent the incision site. For example, a handle assembly for a surgical instrument can have a generally in-line configuration extending linearly along a central longitudinal axis of an elongate shaft of the instrument. A linkage mechanism including a trigger, an actuation link, and an actuation shaft can be positioned within the in-line handle. The linkage mechanism can be pivoted between an open position in which end effectors of the instrument are open and a toggle position in which the end effectors are locked closed. A locking mechanism such as a ratchet mechanism can also be used to lock the end effectors. A surgical dissector can include gripping jaws having a curved profile or an angled elongate shaft to minimize tool interference and maximize visibility within a procedure site.
BONE REDUCTION CLAMP
Disclosed is a surgical instrument that comprises a handle, a trigger pivotably coupled to the handle, wherein the trigger is movable between a first position and a second position. The surgical instrument further comprises a shaft extending from the handle, wherein the shaft comprises a distal end forming a hook. The surgical instrument further comprises a clamp arm extending from the handle and mechanically coupled to the trigger, wherein movement of the trigger from the first position toward the second position moves the clamp arm toward the hook. The surgical instrument further comprises a ratchet mechanism mechanically coupled to the clamp arm, wherein the ratchet mechanism is configured to prevent movement of the trigger toward the first position at incremental positions between the first position and the second position.
Drive-Enhanceable Handheld Elongate Medical Device Advancer and Related Systems, Devices and Methods
A drive-enhanceable handheld advancer is provided for advancing an elongate device through a pathway defined in an advancer body that includes a rotatable manual thumbwheel partially embedded in the body for receiving a user-exerted manual control movement from a thumb, and a manual drive having a nip, a transmission, and a reverse clutch. The transmission operatively connects the thumbwheel to the nip for driving advancement, and the reverse clutch maintains a first interference grip connection between the nip and the elongate device. The manual control thumbwheel can move inward responsive to user-applied grip movements to increase grip with the elongate device. The reverse clutch applies augmented force from grip movements to the nip for increasing the grip drive connection, which can be applied at a different angle from the inward movements. The reverse clutch can include slotted pivot supports for the thumbwheel and drive rollers on the advancer body.
Offset Hohmann
A surgical retractor tool includes a handle and a blade extending transversely from a front end of the handle. The blade includes a proximal portion and a distal portion with respective proximal and distal tissue engaging surfaces. The distal tissue engaging surface may be skewed relative to the proximal tissue engaging surface such that the handle may be angled relative to a direction of retraction when the surgical retractor tool is used. A distal tip of the retractor may include a curved tongue that may be curved in a direction opposite the direction of retraction.
