Nutrient rich germinant composition and spore incubation method
A nutrient-germinant composition to aid in spore germination and a method for increased spore germination efficiency. The composition comprises L-amino acids, D-glucose and/or D-fructose, a phosphate buffer, an industrial preservative, and may include bacteria spores or they may be separately combined for germination. The method comprises providing a nutrient-germinant composition and bacteria spores, preferably of one or more Bacillus species, and heating to a preferred elevated temperature range of 41° C. to 44° C. for an incubation period of around 2 to 60 minutes. The nutrient-germinant composition is preferably in a concentrated liquid form that is diluted just prior to initiating the germination/incubation method at the point of use. The method may also include dispensing a germinated spore solution to a point-of-use/consumption, such as animal feed, water, or bedding, or a wastewater system or drain.
BACILLUS SUBTILIS JCK-1398 STRAIN INDUCING RESISTANCE IN VARIOUS PLANTS, AND COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING PINE WILT DISEASE BY USING SAME
The present invention relates to a Bacillus subtilis JCK-1398 strain (Accession No. KCTC 14084BP) having induced resistance activity in pine trees and various plants, a pesticidal or antibacterial composition comprising same as an active ingredient, a composition for controlling plant diseases or pests, and a control method using same. The Bacillus subtilis JCK-1398 strain of the present invention was experimentally confirmed to have control activity against pests, nematodes, and fungi, which cause various plant diseases, by inducing resistance in a host. Thus, the Bacillus subtilis JCK-1398 strain of the present invention can be effectively used to control related plant diseases and can be spread over a wide area through foliar spraying, and therefore is expected to be able to prevent the spread of pine wilt disease at low cost.
Bacillus compositions and methods of use with ruminants
Bacillus strains, compositions and methods are disclosed for reducing growth of microorganisms in a feed. Bacillus strains, compositions and methods are disclosed for providing beneficial effects to animals, including but not limited to increasing performance of the animal.
System and Method of Increasing Methane Production in Anaerobic Digesters
A spore germination composition and method to produce a bioaugmentation solution that is added to an anaerobic digester or partially aerobic digester to increase biogas production. A nutrient-germinant composition comprises L-amino acids a phosphate buffer, an industrial preservative, and an optional source of potassium. The composition and spores of one or more Bacillus species are heated to a preferred elevated temperature range of 35° C. to 60° C. for an incubation period of around 20 to 60 minutes to form a bioaugmentation solution that is dispensed to the digester, preferably to the hydrolysis stage of the digester. A dose of bioaugmentation solution is added to the digester around once per day in an amount to provide at least 1000 CFU per mL of the full volume capacity of the digester, which can increase methane production by around 5 to 10% over operation of the digester without the bioaugmentation solution.
Management of pathogenic Lawsonia
The present invention relates to an animal feed or an animal feed additive comprising Bacillus strains which improve the health and performance of production animals, and the use of such.
Systems and methods for fabricating water-responsive actuators
Water-responsive actuators and methods for creating water responsive actuators are disclosed. In some embodiments, the disclosed subject matter includes a first layer, for example a plastic tape, and a second layer, for example bacterial spores and cured adhesive. The second layer can be created in a pattern. The pattern can include joints, which can contract when exposed to dry air and can thereby bend the actuator, and can expand when exposed to humid air and thereby return the actuator its original position.
STRAIN FOR PRODUCING LIPASE AND APPLICATION THEREOF
The present invention relates to a lipase-producing strain and application thereof. The strain is classified and named Bacillus subtilis CS1802, with a preservation number of CCTCC NO: M2018262. The strain can be used to produce vitamin A palmitate through whole-cell transformation of vitamin A and palmitic acid. The Bacillus subtilis CS1802 of the present invention is derived from traditional natural fermented food and is a microorganism generally recognized as safe. The strain can be easily cultured and preserved. The highest content of vitamin A palmitate obtained through whole-cell transformation of vitamin A and palmitic acid is 15.35 mg/L. The highest transformation efficiency is 76.75%. The strain provides a new path for enzymatic synthesis of vitamin A palmitate and has important application prospects.
Compositions comprising bacterial strains and use thereof in controlling pathogenic microorganisms
A composition comprising at least two bacterial strains selected from the group consisting of Bacillus subtilis 281, Bacillus subtilis 3, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens 298 and a functional homolog of any of the preceding, wherein the composition does not comprise more than 5 different species of microbes, wherein: a sample of Bacillus subtilis 281, has been deposited as KCTC 13468BP at the Korean Collection for Type Cultures; a sample of Bacillus subtilis 3, has been deposited as KCTC 13467BP at the Korean Collection for Type Cultures; and a sample of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens 298, has been deposited as KCTC 13469BP at the Korean Collection for Type Cultures. Also provided are methods that utilize the bacterial strains or functional homologs of same.
