METHODS AND KITS FOR ASSESSING HEPARANASE PROCOAGULANT ACTIVITY, COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING HEPARANASE, AND METHODS FOR THE TREATMENT OF COAGULATION-RELATED DISORDERS
The present invention relates to an inhibitory peptide capable of disrupting a Heparanase/Tissue Factor complex. The invention further provides methods and kits for determining heparanase procoagulant activity in a biological sample. The invention also relates to diagnostic methods for the detection and/or monitoring of a coagulation-related pathologic disorder in a mammalian subject. The invention further relates to compositions comprising heparanase and at least one tissue factor, uses and methods based thereon in the treatment, amelioration and prevention of coagulation-related pathologic conditions. The invention still further relates to methods for screening a coagulation modulatory compound, methods and uses based thereon in the treatment, amelioration and prevention of coagulation-related pathologic conditions.
UTI fusion proteins
The present invention provides UTI fusion proteins, DNA sequences for producing the same, and pharmaceutical compositions and methods of using the same.
METHOD AND REAGENT FOR DETECTING OVARIAN CLEAR CELL ADENOCARCINOMA
The present invention aims to provide a method for detecting, with high sensitivity and specificity, ovarian clear cell adenocarcinoma, which is highly malignant, among benign and malignant ovarian tumors having various tissue types, and a reagent that can be used for the method. The present invention provides NT-TFPI2, which is a novel processed tissue factor pathway inhibitor 2 polypeptide, as a new detection marker for ovarian clear cell adenocarcinoma. The detection of ovarian clear cell adenocarcinoma is carried out by measuring the amount of NT-TFPI2, or the total amount of NT-TFPI2 and intact TFPI2. The reagent for detecting ovarian clear cell adenocarcinoma contains an antibody that specifically recognizes NT-TFPI2 and intact TFPI2.
TFPI INHIBITORS AND METHODS OF USE
The invention provides peptides that bind Tissue Factor Pathway Inhibitor (TFPI), including TFPI-inhibitory peptides, and compositions thereof. The peptides may be used to inhibit a TFPI, enhance thrombin formation in a clotting factor-deficient subject, increase blood clot formation in a subject, treat a blood coagulation disorder in a subject, purify TFPI, an identify a TFPI-binding compound.
Amniotic membrane preparations and purified compositions and therapy for scar reversal and inhibition
Compositions having a combination of specific biological components have been found to exert a number of useful effects in mammalian cells, including modulating TGF signaling, apoptosis, and proliferation of mammalian cells, as well as decreasing inflammation in mice. These components can be obtained commercially, or can be prepared from biological tissues such as placental tissues. Placental amniotic membrane (AM) preparations described herein include AM pieces, AM extracts, AM jelly, AM stroma, and mixtures of these compositions with additional components. The compositions can be used to treat various diseases, such as wound healing, inflammation and angiogenesis-related diseases.
VARIANTS OF AMYLOID beta-PROTEIN PRECURSOR INHIBITOR DOMAIN
Variants of amyloid -protein precursor inhibitor domain (APPI), effective in inhibiting mesotrypsin and/or kallikrein-6, and composition comprising same, are provided. Further, methods of use of said peptides or composition, including, but not limited to treatment of cancer are provided.
Biomarkers for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and methods for detecting non-alcoholic fatty liver disease by using such biomarkers
The present invention aims to present methods to detect nonalcoholic fatty liver disease including nonalcoholic steatohepatitis by using a protein or its partial peptide that differs in presence or absence, or in quantity between healthy human subjects and patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis or between patients with fatty liver and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and further aims to present biomarkers comprising said protein and said partial peptide to be used to detect nonalcoholic fatty liver disease including nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. Specifically, 35 kDa protein fragment consisting of amino acid sequence expressed by Sequence No. 2 and its partial peptide consisting of amino acid sequence expressed by Sequence No. 3 (including its glycated form) of inter-alpha-trypsin inhibitor heavy chain H4 precursor consisting of amino acid sequence expressed by Sequence No. 1 could be used as biomarkers to detect nonalcoholic fatty liver disease including nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.
LIGAND-BINDING POLYPEPTIDES AND USES THEREOF
The present invention relates to polypeptides that are resistant to degradation in the gastrointestinal tract and that bind to a target (i.e. a target ligand). In particular, it provides a mutant Kunitz-type soybean trypsin inhibitor (SBTI) family polypeptide comprising two or more amino acid mutations compared to the corresponding unmutated (e.g. wild-type) SBTI family polypeptide, wherein the mutant SBTI family polypeptide comprises: (i) one or more amino acid mutations in a first domain corresponding to positions 22-25 of SEQ ID NO: 1; and (ii) one or more amino acid mutations in a second domain corresponding to positions 47-50 of SEQ ID NO: 1, wherein the mutant SBTI family polypeptide: (a) binds selectively to a ligand that does not bind to the corresponding unmutated (e.g. wild-type) SBTI family polypeptide; and (b) is resistant to cleavage by pepsin.
