Biocompatible Polycarbonate and Radiopaque Polymer Compositions and Methods of Manufacturing Medical Devices with Same
The invention relates to biocompatible polycarbonate/polyamide polymer compositions for use in medical and surgical devices. Additional additives, crosslinking agents, phosphites, and optionally a radiopaque filler or fillers can be used to produce the high performance compositions desired. The polymer compositions have improved melt processability along with balanced or enhanced physical and mechanical properties, especially when combined or over-extruded onto or covering other polymer layers, such as soft and/or flexible layers commonly used in medical device applications and catheter tips, for example. The ability to incorporate radiopaque compounds into these polymer compositions during melt processing offers improved methods for monitoring and visualizing medical devices when used inside the body and as well as improving the operating characteristics of the medical device components

Low viscosity polyols for polyurethane applications
Lactide-based random polyester polyols for use in polyurethane compositions are disclosed. The polyester polyols have an OH value in the range of greater than 400 mg KOH/g up to 1100 mg KOH/g and are the reaction product of at least one polycarboxylic acid, at least one lactide, and one or more polyalcohols. The polyester polyols can be formulated into the B-side of a two part polyurethane composition to obtain a polyurethane having improved hardness and solvent resistance and a low VOC content. The polyurethane composition is particularly suitable for polyurethane coating applications.

Yellowing Resistant PSA
Provided herein is a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) comprising a polycrylate base polymer, a crosslinker and a fluorescer. The crosslinker does not comprise a metal acetylacetonate, a metal alkoxide, or an alkoxy-metal acetylacetonate, and the fluorescer comprises less than 0.1 wt. % metal oxide based on the solid weight of the adhesive. The adhesive is resistant to yellowing under adverse conditions such as high temperature treatment and/or exposure to UV.
Aqueous coating agent composition and a coating composition for an aqueous lubricating film comprising the same
[Problem] To provide an aqueous coating agent composition (in particular, an aqueous coating composition for lubricating films that contains a solid lubricant) which as a whole is excellent in terms of flowability, applicability, and storage stability and which is capable of forming satisfactory and smooth coating films effective in stick-slip inhibition. [Solution] The problem can be solved with an aqueous coating agent composition which comprises (A) a curable resin in an aqueous emulsion form, (B) a surfactant, (C) solid particles, (D) one or more nitrogenous heterocyclic compounds, (E) a film-forming silicone in an aqueous emulsion form, and (F) water. In particular, it is preferable that the (C) component comprise a solid lubricant. In view of the environmental regulations, it is especially preferable that the (D) component be 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone.
