A grease composition includes a base oil, a thickener, and an extreme pressure additive. The base oil contains trimellitate ester and poly-a-olefin. A proportion of the trimellitate ester to a total amount of the trimellitate ester and the poly-a-olefin is 10.0 mass % or more and 60.0 mass % or less. The thickener contains lithium 12-hydroxystearate and lithium stearate. A proportion of the lithium 12-hydroxystearate to a total amount of the lithium 12-hydroxystearate and the lithium stearate is 5.0 mass % or more and 95.0 mass % or less. The extreme pressure additive contains molybdenum dialkyl dithiocarbamate. A proportion of the molybdenum dialkyl dithiocarbamate to a total amount of the trimellitate ester, the poly-a-olefin, the lithium 12-hydroxystearate, the lithium stearate, and the molybdenum dialkyl dithiocarbamate is 0.6 mass % or more and 16.0 mass % or less.

The invention provides a grease composition for use in an image forming apparatus, containing a thickener, a base oil and a lubricity improver, wherein the thickener is a lithium soap, the base oil is a synthetic hydrocarbon oil, the lubricity improver is a polyethylene oxide wax, and the image forming apparatus is equipped with a sliding member and a member for holding the sliding member which is driven to slide through the holding member via the grease composition, one of the sliding member or the holding member for the sliding member having a sliding surface formed from a metal, and the other having a sliding surface formed from a resin.

Grease formulations

A grease formulation containing a thickener and a Fischer-Tropsch derived base oil, in particular a heavy or extra heavy base oil. The use of a Fischer-Tropsch oil results in an increase in thickener concentration and in improved properties such as anti-wear and copper corrosion performance. Also provided is the use of a Fischer-Tropsch derived base oil in a grease formulation, for the purpose of improving its anti-wear and/or copper corrosion performance, and/or for reducing the concentration of an additive in the formulation.

A water-based lubricating grease composition includes at least 40 wt % water; a salt-based thickener; a polymer-based thickener; and optionally, an inorganic solid-based thickener. A process for preparing the water-based lubricating grease composition may include blending a suitable amount of water with a salt-based thickener to provide a thickened water-based grease, wherein the salt-based thickener is obtained from contacting a base with a fat; and adding a polymer-based thickener to the thickened water-based grease.

Grease Composition

The instant disclosure provides a grease composition containing an ash-free phosphonate ester mixture, which comprises of an ash-free phosphonate ester mixture of a cyclic phosphonate ester species and an oligomeric phosphonate ester species. The grease composition further includes a metallic soap thickener. The grease compositions disclosed herein demonstrate improved anti-wear protection under very demanding conditions and load carry.

A method for lubricating a work tool, including providing a lubricant composition, the lubricant composition including 72 wt. % to 95 wt. % polyalphaolefin and 5 wt. % to 28 wt. % lithium soap, each in relation to a total weight of the lubricant composition. The method further includes lubricating the work tool with the lubricant composition, the work tool being used to process, package, produce, portion, pick, put together, store, obtain and/or convey foodstuffs, luxury foods, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and/or feedstuffs. The content of metallocene-catalyzed polyalphaolefin is at least 10 wt. % in relation to the total weight of the lubricant composition, and/or the content of acid-catalyzed polyalphaolefin is at least 10 wt. % in relation to the total weight of the lubricant composition.
