Port with piercing means

A port is provided for use with a wound dressing. The port has piercing means to change the configuration of wound dressing for use in a pressure gradient wound therapy apparatus or for use without a pressure gradient wound therapy apparatus. The port is for connecting a non-atmospheric pressure source to a wound dressing. It comprises a first aperture configured to connect to the non-atmospheric pressure source; and a wound dressing contact surface. The wound dressing contact surface includes a second aperture in fluid communication with the first aperture and configured to allow fluid communication with the wound dressing. The piercing means is configured to pierce the wound dressing as the wound dressing contact surface of the port is applied to the wound dressing.

Hydrogel wound treatment

Described herein are hydrogel compositions comprising extracts of Sambucus nigra, Centella asiatica and Echinacea purpurea. The compositions were found to have improved wound-healing effects. Also described herein are methods for treatment of a wound comprising administering, topically to a patient in need thereof, a therapeutically effective amount of a hydrogel composition comprising extracts of Sambucus nigra, Centella asiatica and Echinacea purpurea.

SURGICAL CAVITY DRAINAGE AND CLOSURE SYSTEM
20170189239 · 2017-07-06 ·

A surgical drain device includes an adhesion matrix of biodegradable polymer material and a plurality of drain tubes attached to the matrix. The device is implanted within a surgical wound to treat the presence of seromas, for example, and is used to promote drainage, tissue adhesion, and wound closure. The drain tubes converge into a common collection tube that leads wound fluid outside the body under gravity feed or negative pressure applied to the collection tube. The matrix contains an array of apertures that allow tissue contact across the device.

The device also can include a coating of surgical adhesive and a tissue anchoring system of hooks or barbs. The device can be used with a negative pressure system to further improve the drainage band can also be used with a wound dressing. The device and systems containing the device are particularly useful to promote the healing of surgical wounds from abdominal surgery.

A Wound Care Product

A wound care product is provided. It comprises a sealed chamber in which a wound care article is arranged around a support member in such a manner that a curved portion of the wound care article is in contact with the support member. The curved portion interconnects two other portions on opposite sides of the support member.

STERILE BARRIER PACKAGING SYSTEMS
20250057624 · 2025-02-20 ·

A sterile barrier system for medical device packaging. The sterile barrier system includes a layer forming a breathable sterile barrier. The layer includes a plurality of fibers. Each of the fibers includes a hollow fiber body and an agent contained within the hollow fiber body. The fibers are configured such that the agent flows from the corresponding hollow fiber body when the hollow fiber body is severed. When the sterile barrier system is subjected to damage, the agent is released from any hollow fiber body severed by the damage and imparts one or both of repair or visual indication of a possible integrity breach. In some embodiments, the agent is a self-healing agent. In other embodiments, the agent is a dye. In some embodiments, the layer is an electrospun web. A medical device packaged in a sterile barrier system is also provided.
