Polymer compositions having fast hydration rate and use of the same for particle suspension
Provided herein, inter alia, are polymeric compositions and systems useful for maintaining particle dispersions for extended periods of time. Also provided are dry polymeric compositions and systems that are able to undergo fast hydration. Methods for using such compositions and systems are also provided.
RESIN PARTICLE DISPERSION
A resin particle dispersion containing core/shell-type resin particles and water is described. A shell portion resin of the core/shell-type resin particles contains a constitutional unit derived from a (meth)acrylic acid ester containing a hydrocarbon group having from 4 to 8 carbon atoms. A core portion resin of the core/shell-type resin particles contains a constitutional unit derived from a (meth)acrylamide-based monomer whose solubility parameter lies within the range of from 17.0 to 21.0 (J/cm.sup.3).sup.0.5 in an amount of not less than 5% by mass, and a glass transition temperature of the core portion resin is not higher than 50° C. An acid value of the core/shell-type resin particles is from 50 to 100 mgKOH/g. A process for producing the resin particle dispersion and a printing method using the resin particle dispersion is also described.

PolyHIPE-based substance-releasing systems
A polyHIPE-based substance-releasing system capable of releasably encapsulating a highly concentrated solution and/or a room temperature solid while minimizing or avoiding burst release from the closed-cell microstructure of an elastic polyHIPE.
Bio-based polymers from raw lignocellulosic biomass
Disclosed herein is a method of making polymerizable bio-based monomers containing one phenolic hydroxyl group which has been derivatized to provide at least one polymerizable functional group which is an ethylenically unsaturated functional group (such as a [meth]acrylate group), where the precursors of the polymerizable bio-based monomers are derived from raw lignin-containing biomass. Also disclosed herein are bio-based copolymers prepared from such bio-based monomers and a co-monomer, and methods of making and using such bio-based copolymers. In particular, the bio-based copolymers can be used as pressure sensitive adhesives, binders, and polymer electrolytes.
