The invention relates to an electromotive furniture drive for adjusting movable furniture parts (5, 6) of an item of functional furniture (1), having a control device (9), at least one adjusting drive (7, 8) with an electric motor, and at least one evaluation circuit (10) with an input (11, 12), which evaluation circuit can be electrically conductively connected to a sensor, which is attached to the item of functional furniture (1), and forms a proximity and/or contact detector together with said sensor. The electromotive furniture drive is distinguished in that at least two proximity and/or contact detectors are formed by in each case one sensor or a group of sensors together with the at least one evaluation circuit (10), it being possible for said proximity and/or contact detectors to be assigned to different moving furniture parts (5, 6) of the item of functional furniture (1). The invention further relates to an item of functional furniture (1) having at least two groups of movable furniture parts (5, 6) and an electromotive furniture drive of this kind.

Configurable Patient Ceiling Lift
20170360635 · 2017-12-21 ·

A ceiling lift assembly includes first and second motor units which can be operated together in a dual mode configuration and which can be operated in a single mode operation, in which only one of the motor units is operative with the other motor unit being dormant. The system provides routines for switching between the single and dual modes of the assembly and which ensure that in each mode the necessary parts of the apparatus are in an operative condition, whereas those parts of the apparatus which are not used are placed in a storage condition to avoid inconvenience or injury to personnel and patients. The apparatus also includes a motor unit support device of a structure which can accommodate asymmetric loads, on one motor unit only without causing deformation of the support structure.

Coupled Spreader Bar Assembly for Patient Lift

A spreader bar assembly includes first and second spreader bars and a coupling member that extends between the two spreader bars and holds them together. The spreader bars are pivotally coupled to the connecting member and are able to pivot with respect to the connecting member in a single direction only. The connecting member may be a telescopic structure with a rod and cylinder and is able to extend and contract in length. Also, there may be rotation within the spreader bar, in the example, rotation of the rod within the cylinder. This enables the spreader bar assembly to accommodate loading differences from one side of a spreader bar to the other. The structure enables two spreader bars to be manipulated together, reducing the risk of injury to a patient or caregiver.

Surgical Tables

A surgical table having a tabletop to be rotatable about a trend axis, the trend axis extending in a transverse direction across the tabletop; and an actuator mechanism coupled to the movable framework and arranged to raise and lower the movable framework relative to the column and to raise and lower the trend axis and to rotate the movable framework about the trend axis, and a control mechanism arranged to control the actuator mechanism to cause (i) the height of the trend axis to be translationally variable within a first dimensional range having a lowermost position, at which the trend axis extends through the column, and an uppermost position, at which the trend axis is above the upper end of the column the trend axis and is spaced at spacing height above the upper end of the column, and, simultaneously and/or independently (ii) the location of the trend axis in a lateral direction orthogonal to the trend axis to be translationally variable within a second dimensional range extending between first and second end positions.

Switch assemblies, rail-mounted lift systems, and rail-mounted lift units having emergency stop devices

A switch assembly for a lift unit includes a switch, an emergency stop device, and a reset actuator. The switch is arranged to move between a closed position, wherein the switch electrically couples a lift motor of the lift unit to an energy source, and an open position, wherein the switch electrically decouples the lift motor from the energy source. The emergency stop device is coupled to the switch and arranged to move the switch from the closed position to the open position. The reset actuator is coupled to the switch and arranged to move the switch from the open position to the closed position, wherein the reset actuator is controllable to move the switch from the open position to the closed position.

Patient support apparatus communication systems

A location detection system for person support apparatuses includes multiple network wireless access points that communicate with a plurality of mobile transceivers positioned on board the person support apparatuses. Based upon signal strength data (e.g. RSSI or RCPI) of messages from the access points to the transceivers, the locations of the person support apparatuses are determined. In some embodiments, the person support apparatuses include an additional location detection system that utilizes fixed locators having short range transceivers to generate a second location determination of the person support apparatuses. In still other embodiments, the person support apparatuses utilize the second location detection system to determine the location of the wireless access points. The person support apparatuses may also broadcast their location to other devices that then utilize the received signal strengths of those messages to determine their own location.

System for managing patient support apparatuses and bed sore risks

A caregiver assistance system is disclosed for helping caregivers manage the care of existing bed sores and/or reduce the risk of a patient developing bed sores. The system may also help the caregiver to perform rounding tasks and/or to reduce the likelihood of patient falls. The system comprises a server application in communication with the patient's bed and one or more mobile electronic devices (e.g. smart phones). The mobile devices receive individual assessments of a plurality of bed sore risk factors and forward them to the server. The server generates bed sore risk scores from the answers and forward them to an EMR server. The server may also determine one or more risk reduction steps, display them on the mobile electronic device, and/or forward them to the patients' beds for implementation thereon. Additional bed sore information may be captured and sent to the EMR.

Overhead lift systems and methods

An overhead lift system may include a motor and a lift strap connected to the motor. The motor raises and lowers the lift strap. A hand controller may be communicatively connected to the motor. The hand controller includes a force sensor associated with the body of the hand controller such that force applied to the body is detected with the force sensor. An orientation sensor may also be arranged within the body and determines an orientation of the hand controller. A control unit may be communicatively connected with the motor, the force sensor, and the orientation sensor. The control unit detects a force applied to the hand controller with the force sensor, determines a direction of motion of the hand controller with the orientation sensor, and provides a signal to the motor to raise or lower the lift strap based on the force and orientation of the hand controller.
