VARIABLE SPRING RATE CHASSIS
An apparatus including a chassis assembly having a housing, a spindle rotatably mounted to the housing, a spring collar rotatably mourned to the housing, a first biasing element rotationally urging the spindle toward a spindle home position, and a second biasing element rotationally urging the spring collar toward a spring collar home position. The apparatus may further include a handle mounted on the chassis such that the chassis biases the handle to a handle home position with a return torque. The handle is engaged with the spindle such that the first biasing element contributes to the return torque. In certain embodiments, the handle may further be engaged with the spring collar such that the second biasing element contributes to the return torque.
HANDLE CATCH ASSEMBLIES
An exemplary catch assembly is configured for installation into a spindle, and generally includes a holder, a first catch, a second catch, and a bias mechanism. The holder is configured for mounting within the spindle. The first catch is mounted for movement relative to the holder between a first projected position and a first depressed position. The second catch is mounted for movement relative to the holder between a second projected position and a second depressed position. The bias mechanism biases the first catch toward the first projected position and biasing the second catch toward the second projected position.
Universal rim housing locking system
A handle assembly includes a lock cylinder of a selected one of a first standard or a different second standard. A tail piece extends from the lock cylinder. The handle assembly also includes a vertical tubular member, a horizontal tubular member and a transition plate. The transition plate is disposed within the vertical tubular member and is moveable between a first position and a different second position. The transition plate accommodates installation of the lock cylinder of the first standard when in the first position and installation of the lock cylinder of the second standard when in the second position. A mechanical linkage is coupled to the tail piece and effects movement of a locking bolt in response to turning of a key in the lock cylinder.
Mechanism for a lockset and a method for configuring a lockset's function
Disclosed herein is a mechanism (30) for a lockset (10). The mechanism (30) comprises a latchbolt retractor (22) that is rotationally actuatable. The mechanism (30) comprises a rotationally mounted handle coupler (36). The rotationally mounted handle coupler (36) is rotatable by a rotation of a handle (12) when coupled thereto and comprises an adaptor receiver (46) for receiving any one of a plurality of adaptors (48,52,54). The rotationally mounted handle coupler is configured to engage with at least one of the plurality of adaptors (48,52), but not all of the plurality of adaptors (54), for transmission of the rotation of the handle (12) to a latchbolt retractor actuator (22).
Interchangeable handle lockset
A handle set including a chassis and a handle mounted on the chassis. The handle includes a shank having a load bearing section, a primary actuating section, and a secondary actuating section. The chassis includes a housing, a support spindle, a primary actuator, and a secondary actuator. The support spindle is longitudinally coupled with the load bearing section, and the primary actuator is rotationally coupled with the primary actuating section of the handle. The handle set has a first configuration in which the secondary actuating section is engaged with the secondary actuator, and a second configuration in which the secondary actuating section is disengaged from the secondary actuator.
DOOR LOCK CHASSIS ASSEMBLY
An apparatus that at least assists in maintaining a lever or knob of a lock device in a relatively neutral and static position. The apparatus includes a biasing element that can be constructed from a compliant material that may at least assist in reducing impact forces between interfacing surfaces at least when the lever or knob is returns to the neutral, static position from one or more activated positions. The compliant nature of the damper can further alleviate issues relating to manufacturing tolerances and wear between interfacing surfaces.
Variable spring rate chassis
An apparatus including a chassis assembly having a housing, a spindle rotatably mounted to the housing, a spring collar rotatably mounted to the housing, a first biasing element rotationally urging the spindle toward a spindle home position, and a second biasing element rotationally urging the spring collar toward a spring collar home position.
MODULAR CYLINDER SPACERS
An exemplary access control device generally includes a mounting location, a first selected feature, a lock actuator mounted in the mounting location, and a spacer. The spacer includes a second attachment feature and a ledge. The second attachment feature is releasably coupled with the first attachment feature, and the ledge restricts movement of the lock actuator.
Lock Handle and Rotating Shaft Combination Mechanism
A lock handle and rotating shaft combination mechanism includes a handle having a tubular socket extending axially. The socket includes a connection portion and a protrusion. A tubular rotating shaft includes a securing member formed radially to the rotating shaft. The securing member is located corresponding to the connection portion. A guiding slot is defined axially in the distal end of the rotating shaft. When the protrusion is engaged with the guiding slot, the rotating shaft expands radially outward, and the securing member is engaged with the connection portion to connect the handle to the rotating shaft. No tool is required during the assembling processes to reduce time for assembling the combination mechanism.
