Fiber optic sensing of wellbore leaks during cement curing using a cement plug deployment system

A method includes attaching a fiber optic cable to a cementing tool configured to attach to a cementing plug displace cement in a hydrocarbon well. The method can also include deploying the cementing tool in the hydrocarbon well to cause the cementing plug to begin releasing cement to form to displace cement to form a cement sheath in the hydrocarbon well. Additionally, the method can also include receiving, by a sensor receiver at a wellhead of the hydrocarbon well, a signal with cementing data as the cement sheath cures. Furthermore, the method can also include determining whether the cement sheath is curing properly. A system and a non-transitory computer readable medium are also provided.

Liner retrieval tool and method

A string includes a pipe that is connected to an expansion mechanism and a retrieval tool that is connected to the pipe above the expansion mechanism. The retrieval tool includes a carrier that can selectively latch on an expandable liner and one or more actuators. The retrieval tool can ensure latching of the carrier while the expandable liner is above the Blow-out Preventer. The retrieval tool can prevent accidental latching of the carrier on the expandable liner during the expansion of the liner. By manipulating the pipe, the retrieval tool can force the carrier's release from the expandable liner.

Fluid flow control during well treatment

A method of treating a subterranean well can include positioning a flow restrictor in a wellbore that penetrates an interval of an earth formation, displacing the flow restrictor along the wellbore away from a surface of the well, preventing longitudinal displacement of the flow restrictor in the wellbore, introducing flow into a first section of the interval from a section of the wellbore between the flow restrictor and the surface, blocking the flow from the wellbore section into the first interval section, permitting longitudinal displacement of the flow restrictor in the wellbore, and displacing the flow restrictor along the wellbore away from the surface of the well, thereby permitting unrestricted flow from the wellbore section into a second section of the interval. The second interval section is farther along the wellbore from the surface than the first interval section.
