A track rail fastening system includes a direct fixation fastener assembly having a direct fixation fastener, and a laterally elongated support block. Fastener holes for receiving fastener-clamping fasteners, and fastener holes for receiving bracket-clamping fasteners, are formed in the support block. The respective sets of fastener holes are arranged in different anchor patterns. Fastener-clamping fasteners are received in one of the sets of fastener holes and claim direct fixation fastener to the support block. Bracket-clamping fasteners clamp a third-rail support bracket to the support block, and are received in one of the sets of fastener holes. The third-rail support bracket is cantilevered to the support block.

Railroad tie and railroad comprising such a railroad tie

A railroad tie (1) is manufactured from at least plastic (2), wherein an elongated reinforcing structure (3) is embedded in the plastic. The reinforcing structure in the longitudinal tie direction (L) is extending at least from and including at least a part of one (15) of the two rail supporting longitudinal tie segments up to and including at least a part of the other (16) of the two rail supporting longitudinal tie segments of the railroad tie. In the two rail supporting longitudinal tie segments the railroad tie has a lower lateral stiffness than in an intermediate longitudinal tie segment (17), lying in-between the two rail supporting longitudinal tie segments, which lower lateral stiffness is realized at least by change of shape of the elongated reinforcing structure in the longitudinal tie direction and/or by the range within which said reinforcing structure extends in the longitudinal tie direction.

The turnout bases of the turnout arrangement are elastically supported, and each turnout base is provided with a positive-locking arrangement for positively holding the turnout base horizontally with respect to the casting compound. An elastic layer (8) is provided between a projection (13) of an element of the positive-locking arrangement and the turnout base.

A removable modular slab for use in the construction industry includes an upper surface, a lower surface, first and second opposing end surfaces, and a conduit extending from an aperture in the upper surface to an aperture in an end surface. The slab is end-to-end abuttable with a second removable modular slab, having: (i) a conduit extending from an aperture in the upper surface to an aperture in an end surface, and/or (ii) a cavity extending from an aperture in an end surface into the slab, whereby the conduits are mateable so as to form an elongate conduit through the two slabs. Such elongate conduit is accessible through the apertures in the upper surfaces of each slab. By such access, a first joining structure is removably locatable to join the two slabs together. Cavities may terminate within the second slab and only be accessible through the aperture in the upper surface of the first slab, into which a joining structure is removably locatable to join the two slabs together. A modular surface system includes two such slabs and a joining structure to join the two slabs together.
